I lived in Alaska for four years. Loved it. But it was too isolated for me to stay. I hope you enjoyed your stay there.Hi everyone! I joined in hopes of meeting like minded people. People that live the off grid or homestead lifestyle which both are my eventual goals. I’ve been living in Alaska for about two years now but planning on making a return to the lower 48 soon. I’m currently purchasing some land in southern Colorado so if that’s where you are I would love to hear about your experiences there.
I feel the same way about the isolation. I’m actually from Oklahoma where I’ve spent most of my life. What a small world. Good to meet you!I lived in Alaska for four years. Loved it. But it was too isolated for me to stay. I hope you enjoyed your stay there.
Welcome from Oklahoma where I am now. We also lived in the Denver metro area for 4 years. It was okay.
Thank you!Welcome from Bama!
Thank you! Yeah bad politics can ruin good places.Welcome from Oregon. We are in a solid red county, so it is possible. Unfortunately Portland usually out votes us.
My wife and I both grew up in Oregon. But we had to move out because of the politics 35 years ago. Never regreated since.Thank you! Yeah bad politics can ruin good places.
Thank you for sharing.Hello and welcome from S.W. Oregon. Wife, son and I lived in the mountains just west of Denver, I liked a lot of things in Colorado, mainly mountains, lakes and rivers, southern Colorado was great but sad to say, we just couldn't afford to live in Colorado. Where we live now is a much lower cost of living and has many things to do as we did in Colorado, hunting, fishing and gold prospecting but with far less people to deal with, it always seemed like there was very few places you could be without someone showing up, out here there are places you may not see anyone for weeks, that means, of course when you go out in the woods your better have food, water and warm clothing in case you get stranded.
Wow! Thankfully it has been cold enough for that.Howdy from Nevada! Lived in Alaska 7 years. One year it didn't snow until Feb and pipes freezing 12ft down. Fire hydrants shooting out of the ground with 10ft of pipe attached!
