Hello everybody,

I freshly arrive in Finland 2 months ago, but I am a native French.

I don't feel to be a real prepper like you all can be. I used to live for 7 years 2 years ago in a House in the French countryside where I tried to make grow my own vegetables and using only "heirloom seeds".

I've always been attracted by Bushcraft, watched many videos and follow Vol West channel. But probably not so courageous I never tried. Only spent some Sunday walking in the forest and trying to find mushroom but that's all. I also learn to fish and kind of good cooker but never try to make my own fire, fire camp, or building my shelter. I feel a bit ashamed telling that.

Since I am in Helsinki, I've also decided to learn to shoot in a shooting club. So I mainly discovered only the Glock 9mm at the moment, and already like it (a lot). In France it was really more complicated to go to a shooting club, you need to see a doctor first to get the right to subscribe, and once done you can't wear normal clothes you've to wear a weird combi. Well just decided to abort to try in France.

I am sorry if my English is not really perfect, but Frenchies are not known to be really good with other languages (even with their own language actually).

See you and thank you by advance for your warm welcome.
Jordane.

Bienvenue du Texas! Your English is better than my French - that's about all the French I remember right now. Welcome and you came to the right place if you want to learn. I had a little knowledge and a huge desire to learn and these forums have been great. There is information on every possible subject and I spend hours sometimes just reading and figuring out ways I could implement different ideas. And don't worry - it's not that hard to learn to build a fire; it just takes a little practice and you'll have it down, though I find shelters quite a bit trickier. If you've figured out fishing though, you're doing pretty well, because despite all my trying over the years I have never managed to catch a single fish. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you around here!

Welcome to the forum. Learning new skills can be a little intimidating, but sometimes you just gotta put your big boy pants on and give it a try. That is how you learn. If you mess it up, you learned something anyway and you try again until you got it mastered. Good luck and ask questions when your not sure.

@jontte : wow nice to e-meet you, we should hang-out one day :) Glad to hear I am not so alone in Finland interesting about this subject.

@Psalm7 : wow nice collection! It looks easier in the USA to shoot than anywhere in the world.

@KateMTx : Hey well done though! Actually speaking French is not so useful. French people sadly tend to think they are the center of the world. I will spend time around, I already read the shoutbox everyday :) That's funny. Keep fishing, you will get your first fish. Actually, fishing is a lot about "luck", and also trying to find the good spot. If you don't get anything where you fish, try to fish somewhere else.

@Danil54grl : Thank you for your advise. That's really a good one. Failing is all about Progressing.
