Big snow predicted for tomorrow, Friday. Many school closures. When I first taught for Denver, they wouldn't close school for anything, because of the children who ate free breakfast and lunch, and whose parents had to go to work and had children at home. Now things have really changed.

The storm is predicted to be potentially historic.

A big WET snow! Updates please!! You and Marsh stay safe!!

Sitting here at 1:45 am watching this crazy storm to my west! Hail and horrific wind gusts, a flash flood warning behind it! Looks like the worst will skirt me to the west, but watching closely! A lot of wind and lightning here now! I got up and got dressed, may have Hubby do the same!!
WOW, this little but potent storm is on the leading edge of a mass of storms mostly training northwest. It dropped 3" an hour rain, a good 6" or more as it went through some rural areas! I know those back roads very well and I know they are a dangerous mess right now!! But it will miss me! Whew!!

I just looked at future cast radar, y'all are really gonna get some rain 😮
The first wave that came through filled up the water barrels that emptied about half way. It would have been a lot more except it was coming down so hard that the hoses on the barrels couldn't transfer the water fast enough. It's 5am now & about 15 minutes ago we got hit hard again. I'm closely watching the water level at our side door. Something that I never even thought about is the drain I put in drains about 14 feet away into a low spot in the side yard. The problem is that I just checked & that's a lake now & can't drain fast enough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed & hoping that some of the water will have a chance to run off in between downpours.

My clients are staying home and will be taking care of their own dogs today. I will therefore be staying home and going out and shoveling snow periodically.

The snow and icy roads that we had yesterday morning have mostly melted off. That is what happens in the front range of Colorado. We will be in the 40s tomorrow, Saturday, and in the 50s all next week. No matter how much snow we get, it will be gone in a few days, except in the shadows.

Hundreds of schools closed in Colorado today. The road in front of my house is icy! I'm staying home today, cleaning and organizing. After Halloween, the time change, and the election in less than a week, doesn't every one need a day of rest?

Aurora Public Schools, Cherry Creek Schools, Denver Public Schools, Douglas County School District and Jeffco Public Schools are among the closures Friday.

" See the full list of closures and delays.

Heavy, wet snow will pile up to well over a foot of additional accumulation south and east of Denver, while the city itself could see a foot of snow between Friday and Saturday morning.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team issued Weather Impact Days from Thursday through Saturday morning for the significant snowstorm.

The snow moves into mid-to-late Friday morning, with 1-2 inch per hour snow rates possible and it'll continue well into Friday night and early Saturday morning. A Winter Storm Warning and Weather Impact Day is in place for both today and tomorrow around the metro area.

On the Eastern Plains, an additional 10-20 inches of snow will likely shut down all forms of travel, including not only I-70 from Limon on east (which is closed), but also I-76 and Highway 40 and 34.

Scattered power outages and downed branches are possible with the heavy, wet snow that'll fall in the metro area, especially in areas that see the heaviest snowfall. "

Even Pres Trump Winning Scared Rafael away with his tail between his legs :

After becoming a major hurricane and making landfall in western Cuba Wednesday evening, Rafael is now expected to avoid landfall in the United States, AccuWeather meteorologists say. Rafael is beginning a more westward track that will take it away from the U.S., and the hurricane is forecast to lose wind intensity gradually this weekend.

This will be the first hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico in 2024 that will not make landfall in the U.S.
