Hello all and thank you for admitting me to the forum. I am an Englishman living in France after just realising my early retirement dream - a house in deepest rural France complete with large garden (in the US you say 'yard') and a well. Self sufficiency is the aim, as well as being well placed to protect all I have. Currently growing veggies by the load and loving it! Why France?
1) Population density the same as the UK in 1920.
2) There are actually gaps of countryside between each city (in UK it is just becoming one vast city).
3) Gun laws a lot more relaxed than UK, yet still sensible.
4) House prices 1/3 that of UK.
5) Stable government.
6) Agreeable climate.
