Hi everyone one I am DJ. My wonderful husband and I live in Texas. We are in out mid to late 20s and are first time home/property owners. We have about 3.55 acres of land with a 3 bed 1 bath house. I (DJ) grew up in the Southern California mountains/high dessert. My husband grew up in southern Texas forest/swamp land. We both want to make our home/property into a self sustaining homestead (for the most part). We both have are skilled with working with our hands. We are both very excited to start our dream.

Ha but it might take another whole day to get where you want to go in Texas... I can drive to the north Texas border in 11 hours, and then drive another 10 hours and still be in Texas...
True, but Texas is home. Once I cross the border I'm home no matter what city or town. Except Austin. I refuse to claim those nuts.

Hello from S.W. Oregon, hope your homestead works out for you to the best. My wife, son and I lived in White Deer, just west of Pampa in the panhandle of Texas, we ran a Conoco gas station for just less than a year and while we were trying to sell our home in White Deer I worked for Klingon Tire in Pampa. We felt like fish out of water, I grew up in Washington and Colorado, met my wife to be in Colorado, we've pretty much spend our lives next to streams, lakes, salt water bays and mountains, so living here in Oregon is paradise to us and we are very close to self sufficiency on our 2+ acres.
