Personally - 'On the fence' is probably the best way to describe it. On top of the effects of the war in Ukraine and the pandemic, we have issues with Britain leaving the EU - Brexit as its called here. I would be wary about the future simply because I don't believe the war will end soon, and I see grain shortages due to lack of planting but refuse to let it overwhelm me. We'll cross that bridge etc... Prices have gone up about 30% since the start of the year across the board. No shortages in the supermarkets, but some limitations. A product could be missing for a month and then reappear. I noticed before the pandemic certain items - middle-of-the-range products, were disappearing. I have always kept a good stock of food as I live rurally. The winter here will be the finishing of a lot of people, and to be honest I'm not sure if they realise it. As an example, home heating oil for 200 litres was, last year, between €190 and €220. I priced it yesterday out of curiosity and it was €380. The elderly especially cannot afford that kind of increase. And it's not winter yet; prices will rise. Electricity is going up another 10% in August and one of the gas companies 27%. Anyone with sense will ride it out, but sense is limited also!
Cheer up kid, you're where those problems get fixed! We'll have you growing mushrooms and grain sprouts and heating with methane in no time! Maybe even building a black powder musket and making the ammo? lol

Welcome

Oh I'm happy! Apologies if I gave off bad vibes. I'm lucky- I quit my job at Christmas, (after threatening to do so for two years) took every penny and threw it on the mortgage and went back to college. Now I divide my time between the garden, kitchen and desk - and I'm a hellava lot happier. Everyone around me is too! I like the Nearing philosophy of four hours of bread labour, 4 hours creative etc - And my husband would marry me again if I made him ammo!

Got any cotton rags and sulfuric acid. might get you some cordite going on for some shotgun shells. I thought guns were illegal there?

All you get from cotton rags and sulfuric acid is a mess that won't even burn! :)
You need to mix the proper amount of sulfuric acid into the correct amount of nitric acid while mixing it in an ice water bath to keep it cool.
Once it is mixed and at room temperature you can add cotton cloth until it won't absorb any more. Rinse it with ethanol (or methanol I have to check) air dry keep it away from heat, sparks or flame.

No, I'm not sure of the full legalities, but you apply to the cops for a license and become a member of a hunting club. They have to be kept locked in a special safe. Not sure of city laws. In general, police don't carry when on the beat. Most farmers would have a gun for foxes etc.

Pity. I'm a huge fan of FAL rifles and Hi powers, its a crime your people can't enjoy them as well!

Late to the party but hello! 😃
