Hey there from Indiana!
Hello Jazzy, fellow herbalist here! We have much in common...
I, too, am battling vision problems. I have macular degeneration and glaucoma, which is treatment-resistant, according to my doc. Like Sourdough, I am going blind, too. So, you have good company!
I am grateful for computers! I can make the print as large as I want it. Also, the Grammarly app helps to catch most of my grosser mistakes. It is a free (or paid platform if you need enhanced functions).
One of my favorite herbalists in the world is right here in this forum. You will enjoy Peanut's many "boots-in-the-field" photos that he posts about the herbs that he talks about! Reading his posts will remind you of Tommie Bass...with a college education, lol.
I hope you hang around!
Hello Jazzy from S.W. Oregon, we have a dear friend that we have known for many years that is legally blind, actually sounds a lot like you, to us she is amazing in all that she can do to the point that we don't consider her blind, she makes soap, tinctures, cooks, and this past year has canned hundreds of pounds of vegetables and fruit, just to mention a few things she has done, of course she gets help from her husband, but to us, she is a miracle worker and both of them are more family to us than our son and other blood relatives. She also sings karaoke and sounds just like Patsy Cline, she frequently sings to us on the phone.
Hey from Missouri.

I think we're from all over Missouri.
thank you!
it gets to be a real challenge still keeping up with the regular herbal recipes when the old eye balls dont want to cooperate. do you have any favorite recipes you make for your family?
every year i make a large batch of elderberry tincture, some calandula-comfrey salve, CBD oil-there is this recipe called Spaz-Ez that is terrific for stopping muscle spasms like charlie horse or regular muscle knots. ive had something called esophageal spasms-, not dangerous just stressful. this is the only thing that has ever worked, stops them flat in a minute or 2. works on any kind of muscle spasm
i make a sort of copycat neosporin salve with essential opils thats pretty good. blackberry leaf tinctue is the best ive ever found for stopping diarrhea, 1-2 T is all thats needed and there is no , um.........plugged up problem the next day or so that other things can cause.
i have my favorites i make every year, i really enjoy still making my things. helps me sstill feel useful. my housemate is helpful in weighing things for me.
today i made a large batch of homemade Baileys Irish Cream, i give pint jars to friends and neighbors for christmas. . i humbly confess it is outstanding.
not exactly a herbal remedy but i guess it depends on what kind of day or week ya had, lol.
would enoy hearing what you like to make. is there a herbal remedy thread? i need to look.

As you said, those esophageal spasms are not dangerous, but I learned that doctors can be, lol.
Years ago, several doctors thought I was having heart problems, but it turned out it was a series of esophageal spasms (that lasted off and on for weeks).
Initially, I went on a crazy medical-go-round of doctors, starting with the ER doc who referred me to another, who referred me to a series of cardio specialists...They were all stumped. Ran batteries of tests, prescribed beta-blockers, nitroglycerine, and other drugs, etc. etc, ad nauseum. The nitroglycerine relieved the pain, which convinced the cardio doc that I really did have heart issues.
Later another doctor (an old-fashioned family doctor) explained why that worked: the esophagus is a smooth muscle, similar to the heart muscle, and the nitroglycerine pill acted on the esophageal spasm in the same manner as it would have to a spasm in the heart!
The joke is, all the cardio docs I went to never, ever suspected what my problem was, but lo and behold...I walked into a new-to-me GP's office and he diagnosed it within ten minutes without a single test, lol.
I would love to learn of your Spaz-Ez recipe. It would be very useful to have on hand!

Welcome Mountain Trapper. Looking forward to your contributions here.Hey all. I just joined this site this morning. I've been "retired" for about 7 years now and the wife retired last year, both from the oil and gas industry.
We've been prepping long before it became a fad or had a name. We moved to our mountain ranch full time 7 years ago. We raise red angus cattle, have chickens, hogs and a large garden and orchard. I've been trapping for over 50 years now.
We're 100% off grid, nearest neighbor is 5 miles away, town (pop 500) is 18 miles and our county is pop 2800. Our ranch is an inholding, which means that its fully within the National Forest boundaries. We'll never have a neighbor anywhere near our ranch/homestead.
Hi, MT. I once read something which attempted to describe an Attitude. As follows:Hey all. I just joined this site this morning. I've been "retired" for about 7 years now and the wife retired last year, both from the oil and gas industry.
