Howdy from a Texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quite a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or2..and by all means jump righton in with any replies you have on a topic.
 
You are young so you have the ability to learn a lot and stock up while you can. Learn and actually use survival skills on a daily basis. To build a fire during the winter, canning to preserve, make soap the old way using ashes from the fires you started, make lye, your own laundry detergent, making a snare to catch you dinner if you are not a farmer to raise your own. Even if you are, it is a good thing to be proficient in. The list goes on. . . and on.
