BFE... and lovin' it!
Meant to post this earlier, but I'll do it now since the clock & calendar are ticking down... dunno how many of you live near Alamogordo, NM, but this year's air show promises to be spectacular, with the USAF Thunderbirds and the F-35 Demo Team performing, along with various other pilots & aircraft. You Warthog lovers from that military photo thread, the Thunderbolt II will also be performing... I always liked that name better, lol, and I dug the original Thunderbolts, those were awesome aircraft for ground support. Anyway, you can Google this thread title and learn more about the upcoming show on May 7-8, I already reserved a parking spot for free online.

I am REALLY looking forward to this event, as it has been YEARS since I last attended an air show. Back in San Diego, I used to go to the Miramar Air Show every year, but the crowds and post-9/11 regulations kinda put a damper on my enjoyment, so I quit attending. Now I'm in a position to watch this show and fully enjoy it... Holloman AFB is only about 15 minutes from my home, so I am DEFINITELY attending this year, lol. I've never even SEEN an F-35 up close, so that should be cool, and of course the Thunderbirds are right on par with the Blue Angels... I've seen 'em both, and neither squadron allows tweakin' crackerheads to fly their jets, lol.

Just wanted to throw this out there, since there seem to be quite a few ex-military personnel & history buffs at this website. Might be worth a road trip to see, if you're not that far from Alamogordo and Holloman AFB. Check out the official website for the show, there are cool photos and even some video of the performers, and most questions can be answered right there at the site, including what is permitted and what is NOT permitted for the show. There's even a number listed for the event organizer, dunno if that person will answer calls. Rules & regs say no outside alcohol is allowed, but I'm pretty sure my Tombstone hip flask will also be attending the air show... CHEERS!!! ;)

Yes, it has been a while for me, so I'm really looking forward to it. Gotta make a store run today to resupply for the weekend, so I'm gonna stop by the library and print out the parking pass. I have Internet here at the house, but I have no printer for this laptop computer o' mine. No worries, I can forward the email to the library computer and they'll print it out for me, and it only costs a dime or whatever... I wanna make sure I have that pass, even though the show is two weeks away, lol. ;)

As a army retiree, I still get a thrill out of watching military aircraft. While its been awhile since I’ve seen an official air show, I get to see all sorts of fast movers and helicopters who use my 60 mile long, and at places 8,000 ft deep valley to practice nap of earth flying. About the only military aircraft I haven’t seen fly up or down the valley yet is a B-52. That would be something.
