There is a new post-apocalyptic movie coming out in December called Homestead. Looks like it could be really good and seems like it has a more positive message than most of these movies.

There is a trailer for the movie if you follow the link. They haven't posted it on Rumble yet.

Homestead

What if the end of the world is just the beginning? Enjoy the first-ever post-apocalyptic drama that shows the good in humanity.

Film synopsis

A nuclear bomb is detonated in Los Angeles, and the nation devolves into unprecedented chaos. Ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson and his family escape to The Homestead, an eccentric prepper’s fortress nestled in the mountains. As violent threats and apocalyptic conditions creep toward their borders, the residents of The Homestead are left to wonder: how long can a group of people resist both the dangers of human nature and the bloodshed at their doorstep?

Theatrical Date

December 20, 2024

Yeah, it's done by Jason Ross and Jeff Kirkham, the "Black Rifle Coffee" guys and co-authors of "Black Autumn." They crowd funded the startup costs and the extras are mostly real prepper/survivalist fans of the book series. I think it might be pretty good.

Except I want to go on record... I started MY nuclear war book about making a stand at a hidden ranch before they started their movie. So :p :p

Sounds like it could be worth watching. As long as it's not too much boring military strategy and techno babble.
As I recall from some discussions with Jason on their Readyman group about a year ago, it will loosely follow the Black Autumn book for the movie, and take off from there in the series. Or something like that, I forget offhand.

OMG!! Did Hollywood actually make a movie I would like to see? That hasn't happened in a very long time. I like Neal Mcdonough and Bailey Chase. The trailer looks pretty good.

Homestead is out! Anybody see it yet? Opinions?

I'm going Mon or Tue. It's supposed to be at the theater on the Res, but I have to drive over to get the time, they never answer the phone. If not we have to drive 60 miles.

Took a 'work break' and Saw it. Quickie-Review Summary: 'Meh'. 🫤

..Some Good / some parts were Well Done.. Some Solid 'advice' here / there (and, at a Min, Good to get 'More Mainstream Awareness' to 'What's Coming' to America (one way or another) in the not-too-distant, out there o_O )

..But, lots about it that was 'Meh'.. and Some parts that were just... downright Cringe / 'Soap-opera-Level Cheeze-Wizz' / Bad-dialogue, etc. And, there were a LOT of 'Tactical mistakes' in the Protagonists 'plans' / AO-setup that.. Later, maybe I can enumerate, but..

..Suffice to say that it's the Kind of 'flawed thinking' / tactics that @Sourdough is SO SPOT ON about, because - Real Life - is No Where's Near as 'fault-tolerant' / 'forgiving' as This - or Any - movie is, really, so...

Overall, I'd give it a B-, tops. (and I really Like what Angel Studios is 'doing' (the 'Sound of Freedom' was Excellent - and an Incredibly Important film to Make, IMO..) but.. This one, well, again.. 'Meh'...

But, same token, I'm gonna 'assert' (though Not-yet having seen 'CW') that this is Still an Exponentially-Better film, overall than 'Civil War' was / is... Yah, that one seems pretty pointless.. 'The Road' was FAR better / realistically-darker, and MUCH more 'believable an-outcome' than Either of these 'Pivotal Future' films..

So, for 'Homestead', I'd say: 'Lower yer expectations', and I think you'll like it Better-er. ;)

@SoJer - Thanks for the report. Reviews on Readyman on FB aren't very good either. I may save my ten bucks. The cool factor is fans of the book series were cast as extras. I read they toned it way back, and the gang battle wasn't included to keep a PG13 rating. Heck, that's half the story.

Sounds a bit like the story I'm writing on another site, I keep reminding folks, it's a novel, not a documentary. Otherwise it would read... "There was a big flash. The End." ;) :D

It's playing here!! I wanted to go see it on my birthday but didn't think the kids would sit through it, and didn't really want to spend the money anyway. Christmas= I'm broke. 🤣
