Look behind you in that dark corner.
1 chopped head of cabbage.
1 bulb of elephant garlic or just regular is fine.
4 chopped potatoes.
1 large broth bone, preferably pork. A piece of fatback can be substituted.
1/2 ounce of red wine.

Mix in a stew pot, cover the ingredients in water or broth, simmer, and stir often for an hour.
Serves six with grilled bread on the side.

I like recipes like this cuz you can add or take away whatever suits your palette, excess from the garden, contents of the pantry, or vegetable drawer.
The containers of broth available at stores are no longer an option for me. I’d get sick almost every time I’d use it. Then a warning and recall was issued a couple of weeks ago about this stuff.
Make my own.

Have you ever tried cabbage and cheese? you make it like Mac and cheese
but with cabbage. It's a great side dish!

Another simple one is grilled cabbage slices, butter, salt, and pepper, yum!
Good side for cube steak and gravy.
