I doubt that I have the oxygen, either, but I will. Commies will notoriously complain that inflation is caused by evil capitalistic corporations, and that socialism/communism will save the economy by having the government "fix it".
When in reality, our government has caused inflation by being bad stewards of the money that they have taken in from taxpayers (remember, the govt does nothing but TAKE money), and they overprint what they do not have. This overprinting of money has turned our currency into a fiat currency.
Now a socialist/communist would cry for the government to federalize everything, to take it all over and "fix" it, and hand out to everyone their "fair share".
I would not want to live in a country like that. Rhian, it sounds like you might, so I'd recommend Venezuela for you.

If you think the government caused inflation by printing an oversupply of money into the economy, then don't you think the government should cure inflation by taking the extra money out of the economy? It could do that by raising taxes.

In a healthy economy, inflation is a sign of expansion of the economy and robust growth. In that situation the way you curb it is by slowing down the money expansion with increased interest rates.

This economy has been mortally wounded by the idiotic policies of the Biden administration. Normal remedies won't work.

It means that unlike the left, we don't immediately turn to violence and start burning down cities when we aren't happy with things. I guess you wouldn't understand that though... Some riot. Compared to the BLM and Antifa riots it was a very peaceful protest. The only people killed were protesters, and the ringleaders like Ray Epps were agent provocateurs.

So...I noticed our Walmart in the bigger town was pretty quiet yesterday. Prices were sky high. So are people buying less because they cannot afford it because of inflationary prices, because of overprinting of money? Yep, I'd say so. Walmart is not going to need all those extra employees standing around that I saw, without as many customers. Layoffs will happen soon. People not working means people not paying taxes.
But, we can argue all day about why our economy is trashed. The point of this forum is, is to learn how to prepare yourself when the whole of the economy goes under. That is up to the individual.

Inflation reduces the purchasing power of money. A dollar no longer purchases as much stuff as it used to because there is too much money going around.

If the government raises taxes, the extra money gets taken out of the economy.

Those paying the taxes may have less money but now the money they do have has more purchasing power.
It's better to have a little money with a lot of purchasing power than to have a lot of money with less purchasing power.

Sadly, I am investing in 4th Industrial revolution type stuff alongside a bunch of ********. For perspective, I do volunteer research for a venture capitalist firm based out of Europe. Our latest investment relates to universal basic income and universal basic ownership.

Why sadly? There are good firms thinking they are doing good things, but they move within the narrative - which isn't great for most people. The solution is simple, but near impossible due to human nature.

We have to be happy and thankful for what we have in all situations. We should feel sorry for people in power who don't understand what life is really about. Don't hate them and don't be angry...be understanding and make do, since they're not going anywhere. Help people around you. The future can be seen as bleak, but it doesn't have to be viewed that way.

But, I digress, haha. So...my advice (my helping the people around me)...is to look at the 4th industrial revolution while it's young. Investigate a company. Then tie as many people from government and the WEF as you can to that company and ANY 3rd party research that supports that company's objective (then check to see who supports that '3rd party' research firm).

Step 2 is figure out how to give them your money. You don't need a lot at this point.

Is that what you think conservatives do, just shoot people we disagree with? When liberals have an idea, it is usually an emotionally-driven and poorly thought out reactive response to a problem they do not understand. Conservatives are patient and are willing to look beyond the immediate good something will bring and also consider the bad it will bring.

Just like this ridiculous universal income ****... Sure, it might get rid of hunger here and there and it will do good for some, but that is only in the short term. When you take away private property and give everyone the same thing, you remove the incentive for people to compete and better themselves. This country was build on independence, not dependence. To be dependent on someone or something is to be limited by the same.

You know why you never see liberal flags in boat parades? The government don't give boats away! The people that wanted to have a boat had to work hard for it, there is no other way to get one. To make everything equal (childish notion in itself), you must spit in the face of all the people who shed blood sweat and tears, often being away from their families risking their lives, just to bring home a little extra so their kids can have the life you don't think they deserve. That boat isn't a privilege, it's the reward for their hard work. To take from anyone, whether they are rich or poor, swimming in debt or buried in their inheritance, taking from one to give to another is theft plain and simple.

I know some kids in poor communities that need a computer for educational reasons, and you seem to be fortunate enough to have one for pleasure, so.... what are YOU going to do about that? You want to give away your computer, you car, your medical insurance, the future security you made for yourself and your family in the name of making a difference? Nope, didn't think so, because when it is your stuff on the line, you see that socialism is theft. So why force that on others?

Yeah, I suppose so. I was thinking the solution might be to go back to the gold standard. But the more I thought about it the more I realized no one could ever be stupid enough to want to do that.

If the international trading system required its accounts be settled with gold, the huge US trade deficit would have to pay for imported oil and chinese consumer goods with gold, not to mention interest on foreign held Treasury debt. That would lead to a massive contraction in the money supply, a deflationary spiral, unemployment, shortages of cash and would probably just end in conversion back to a fiat currency anyway just to relieve the social and political instability that would result.

Now what you really want is the purchasing power of money to be stable. Unfortunately, things like gold or silver can't be stable since their values fluctuate with changing supply and demand.

What we really need to end inflation is for everyone in the world to start using the same global currency.
