New to prepping, but not really.
Great setup in another state ten years ago, but it fell apart. IMO, too many divergent views, everyone from different areas of the country. I was the first to bail out. Can't fix ideologues, holy rollers, or paranoids. A solid "prepper" community has to have solid ties to the local community.
Joined this forum in the hopes of finding like-minded, rational, feet on the ground folks who are interested in building a community of folks who are concerned for their future.
I do not need to explain to anyone here why I think this country is headed towards a world of hurt in the near future. But most around me in my area are totally oblivious to the dangers ahead. After three years, pretty much done with the average fool around here. Let them learn the hard way. They think everyone for themselves will magically turn into a community when hard times hit. Doesn't work that way.
I have been fortunate. Back in the early 1970s, as a child, several old timers, who survived the Great Depression, told me many stories of how they and others survived. The family I grew up in, tight with the Amish, Mennonites, and Plain Folks.
Spent too many years trying to make a career in big cities, now happy living on a third of income away from them.
The Internet is the perfect medium for liars, for that reason, I will be reluctant to meet up with strangers.
Perhaps someone can point to an event or show in the near future where I can meet up with like minded folks in NE Oklahoma?
