While not new to prepping, my thoughts on what that should mean and how to provide the best chances for my family after a societal meltdown are still coming together. I am exploring the possibilities on my blog with thoughts ranging from Ferguson type riots, why a prepper should be a HAM, ways to use cheap Chinese HT radios to expand your perimeter security out to a mile or more and other unconventional ways HAM radio can be used. I don't have any financial stake in what I write, just a hope that the more people who are prepared for emergencies, disasters, or doomsday, the easier it will be for everyone.

howdy from a texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quiet a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or 2..and by all means jump right on in with any replies you have on a topic.and start new topics if/when needed....

Welcome from NC!! I'm sure you'll be a great contributor in addition to the ones already here. We're total newbies so we have so much to learn.

Welcome...while its great you have a blog site. Consider sharing your ideas on DPF.

Thanks for the encouragement Bob. I tend to get overly wordy sometimes and that is why I tend to put up a point of view here with a reference to a blog entry for anyone curious about a longer story. If that is not the preferred method, you all have my apology.

I notice from one of your posts that you attended ESC training in Region 9. I worked for Grand Prairie ISD for five years and attended training at Region 10 pretty regularly, then went to work for a UNT campus in Ft. Worth for 17 years to complete my TRS requirements for pension. Currently I am working for Main Trading Company in Paris where we sell HAM radio equipment and surplus items nationwide. I am currently studying for my amateur extra license and exposure to the technology on the job is helping.
