Some of you must of had a pretty stable life. It's easy to be judgemental when you've never experienced something like homelessness. There are alot of people who became homeless, and are going to, as a result of the covid lockdowns. It's not like there are tons of jobs that pay a living wage out there, and living within your means when you make less than $20/hr means living in a shitbox apt, or renting a room. Rent is insane, utilities are insane, the cost of transportation is insane. Then add food and other necessary hygiene; god forbid you need medical care.
When I was homeless, I NEVER had a drink of alcohol or did any drugs. I looked for work every day, and did EVERYTHING that was offered. I saved every penny and ate rice with stolen mustard packets for months, until I could get a $195/mo studio. You need decent clothes to work; those cost money. You need a daily shower; those cost money. You need a phone; those cost money. It's not as easy as "go get a job, you lazy POS!"
I expected more sound advice from this crew. I hope the OP can make something work, because right now they have a lifeline that helps if they play their cards right. I don;t think the OP is the typical "gimme gimme" homeless, break into your car, steal from the Sav On, poop on your sidewalk, leave a needle in your yard homeless.
