I would recommend communication with a good group of like minded people, maybe not even your neighbours, just establish a group of trusted like minded people and decide on a location you should all congregate in an emergency, then establish fall back or alternate positions, pickup/extraction locations for those unable to make it to the bug out/in position etc, etc, when you have a group you can diversify your stocks and skills, if you communicate, it would suck if everyone arrived with 100 cans of the same flavoured food and no water or weapons.

My point is, if you intend on including people, think outside the box a little, don't limit yourself by your neighbours, current friends or even family, by the way a hierarchy should be established before SHTF and even if you initiate the group it does not necessarily mean you would make the best leader, consider that maybe your position is more suited to being a 2IC instead, everyone wants to lead but often you will come across someone better suited, knowing how to identify this and having the wisdom to accept it though is a different thing.

no, I spend and spent to much time and money protecting myself from neighbors and wayward travelers, one of the neighbors didn't like the rifles in my gun rack in the truck and called Law Enforcement, the gentleman was from SF cali wasn't familiar people do that here, the other don't like my cars and quads, so no, my neighbors can go to hxll :-/

besides you folks here.no one knows that im prepping..even my mom dont know.as for the folks that live around me goes.im slow to trusting folks.includeing takeing my time in telling someone that i can trust things that im doing and/or what ever..thats why i aint told any of them diddly squat..i posted a set shelves i made in a diff topic.i intend on filling them up with foods.hopefully mostly canned and single pack foods that can be opened up and eaten right then n there.or heated first..there's a couple of neighbours i might be able to trust if the shtf happens..mainly one of them.him n his family seem to have the right attitude n all..and seem to be the trustable type...gotta feel um out to see if he's like minded or not first..

I'm with JimLE...my family doesn't know (except hubby) and neither do my neighbor or any of my friends. My family thinks the government can do no wrong and has everyone's best interest at heart, LOL. My neighbors, I don't know enough about them...there are so few of them out by us...I only know two household and one isn't welcome anywhere near under penalty of pain and the other is trying to move back to the cities. The way I see it, they don't need to know me/mine or anything else about us...and I don't want to know anything about them!

So, when the time comes, we will not be including our neighbors or my family except my son and daughter.

thats the way at least most of my family is..mainly my mom.guess she has to much old school about the gov in her.in other words.they wont do any wrong or harm to us.pluse in at least in some way,she's nieve to whats really going on around us when it comes to the so called government..i've 3 good sizt totes with pockets.im working on filling all 3 of them.so if we have to bug in/out.then we have it.

Our neighbors don't know we prep not because I'm ashamed of it but I don't know who to trust, with the way things are going we feel it is better to keep a low profile. The gov. is telling everyone that preppers, patriots, Christians, and white people are the enemy I'm all four rolled into one....

Well, I have two additional strikes against me...I have my conceal carry permit and I OWN gunS (and a pressure cooker, LOL)

Trust...that is the biggest factor...who do YOU trust? The only persons I trust with my life are first my hubby, second my daughter, and third, my son (and this one is a little iffy, sadly to say).
