The lady and her girl are putting up the 🎄 and decorating for Christmas today, or so I was just advised. After some heavy negotiations, we agreed to wait until after T-day, but apparently they normally start a week or so after Halloween. Are your Christmas decorations up already, are you waiting, or do you not bother?

Mine are still Up and waiting in the Closet in the 1st bedroom, closest to the Front door so I don't have to carry all that so far...!!!

A "Cute" nic for the "girl" : ladyette...?!?

Within a week of the Halloween decorations being packed away, my lovely bride had three Christmas trees up and decorated.

Gorgeous! It is as beautiful as I would have expected it to be.

Christmas decorating can be almost magical.

I don't decorate much anymore.

I have a Czech nativity scene that is so large, with around 60 pieces, that it won't all fit on my buffet let alone the fireplace mantel or any other place. The people in it are dressed as peasants, which all of my ancestors were, dressed in kroj (pronounced croy). Each village has its own kroj. ( kroj is a traditional folk costume worn by people of Czech, Moravian, Silesian, Rusyn, and Slovak descent. The word kroj is Czech for "folk costume". )

We had glass ornaments, tinsel and bubble lights on our tree when I was growing up.

I have some really nice ornaments and decorations, collectibles, but I haven't really decorated for a few years. I used to have fresh trees, but I now have an artificial tree. I always try to find a really nice ornament or something every year to add to the collection. I prefer glass or ceramic ornaments, but I have made a few felt ornaments.

I have made a few things. My advent calendar took me around 100 hours to make. It is from a pattern and is made of felt. I added pockets to it and put numbers on the pockets. I was doing respite care for Easter Seals in North Dakota, taking care of a man who was dying of cancer. I took the advent calendar project with me every day for something to do while he was sleeping, which was what he mostly did. I decided to keep track of the time I put in it.

And I have my counted cross stitch Santa piece that I know I have at least 100 hours in making. https://www.homesteadingforum.org/threads/cross-stitch.18981/post-574268

I also have a couple menorahs. Jesus was a Jew and he celebrated Hanukkah. He didn't celebrate Christmas! We have latkes at least one night of Hanukkah which starts on Dec. 25 this year.

Oh yeah STRESSMAS, great a made up event to make people waste time and energy, oh yeah and cause further seperation, forgot the part where parents are supposed to lie to their kids, never mind that is standard modern society. Eating turkey and ham is cool though

Used to be lucky to get the tree and decor out by the week of Christmas.
I think we'll go with this coming week some time. Daughter's birthday and she loves to do it.
I rarely do it early in the month but used to do it about 2 weeks before when there were still kids around.
My mom painted a few cool wooden items for decoration. Santas, angels, and tree ornaments. I'll post photos when we get them out.
Do any of you guys put lights and decorations around your front door? I wish I was better at that.
