Hey Meer, the removal of that statue has been a mess here. Our news is bogus. Read what happened on KOB news on line (local), and you'll here that the peaceful protesters did nothing wrong, and a crazy militia man shot one of them. Now the mayor is saying that our local militia will be named a hate group. Then listen to Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin on youtube about it, read about it on Drudge, Fox News, and 100% Fed up. He wasn't militia, and he was apparently attacked and used pepper spray, then his gun. All over protecting the statue. The militia group was protecting the statue, too. It's just outside the Alb Museum. So, we will be the next Seattle. The message our governor, the mayor, and the police gave to the rioters is that they can do whatever they want and it will be overlooked. And by the way, It was announced by invite by the protestors on facebook the day before to come help them take it down. And the police wouldn't go to stop it, even though they knew about it. So, now, the statue comes down by the city because no one wants to "upset" the rioters even more. I am furious that the militia is taking the fall for this. They were armed, but rightfully so, we are an open carry state. I believe our governor may use this to disarm everyone in New Mexico. She said the militia being armed scared everyone and had no place there. So, at this rate, I say, no, uniting people is not possible. Not here anyway.

We all have history and it is a shame anyone was shot. Amish just be careful and take care. This isn't where your moving to is it?

The rioters said Onate was an insult to the native americans because he killed so many. I am angry because our governor and the mayor will do anything to appease the rioters, even allowing them to publicize that they are going to tear down a statue on our museum property, and invite others to join them. I'm most angry that Mr Baca, the shooter was automatically said he was part of the militia group. And "journalists" are still writing that it was the militia group that did "lots" of shooting, when in fact, they did none. Also saw one write that Mr Baca was part of the Klan. Laughable, because he's not even white. It now seems in Albuquerque there are the good guys (rioters) and the bad guys (militia). Police, mayor, governor, are sitting on the couch eating popcorn. This governor, for sure, will be restricting firearms soon. Nah, Meer, this is only where I've been living for the last 20 something years, not where we're moving to. Where we are moving to had their second BLM march. In the daytime, down the main street, police escort, twelve people marched last Sunday. The community honked and waved at them. No trouble.

Amish I still haven't figured out who is who in much of this.
I'm glad your not moving there and hope all the insanety around the naation stops. I found this video of the shooting,

Wow, Meer. Didn't see that. They are adding 2 more assault charges on Mr Baca (from Jane Doe #2 and #3). And looks like the hate group is being pinned on the militia, even though they didn't do anything. I'm sure you won't see that clip anywhere in this state.

So much is confusing now its mind boggeling.I'm still not sure who is who ,lol. And don't understand why anyone would choose to pu up statue of a murderous Conquestidor of a few hundred years ago.Not that we aren't all murderous humans.
But why now and why him? :confused2:o_O:dunno:

Guess they learned from history, that first go round didn't end well for them, even Davey Crocket died in that one.Hubby says Davey Bowie too,?

She can try. I don't know anyone who will comply. Personally she can kiss my 🤬 .

Found a lot more clips on 100% Fed up's page. Those 3 guys beating him, 2 had knives. They ran after him to beat him, even skate board guy. Those three need to be arrested for attempted murder. It is clear he was defending himself. Somehow I don't think that'll be the case. And if it is, there will be more riots.
I don't know why they paid $800K in 1990 for the statue in the first place. Evidently, on another section outside the museum, there is an equal sized one of the natives. There's a lot of statues there, I've been to that museum hundreds of times, and have picnicked in that park with our kids. Never really noticed the statues much. Onate was the founder of Albuquerque.

You are being distracted by the chaff.
It matters ZERO who is on that statue or whether he was a conquestidor from whatever country.
What matters is what is shown in the video: them chasing the guy down the street, throwing him to the ground and beating him before he draws his weapon and defends himself.

If there is a statue of Robert E. Lee nearby, it does not give others the right to beat me to death.

I didn't say it gave anyone the right to beat or attempt to kill anyone.
But I don't agree with a statue of a foreign warrior just put up lately.
Whos next, a million dollar Hitler? Robert E Lee was an American born in America.

Well, since it's all about the statue....
Maybe this one would be better?

This was a classic case of a good shoot. Shooter tried to retreat but the thugs chased and beat him. Only as a very last resort the shooter pulled his gun and shot. Classic self-defense. Now look at everything he has to go through. His life is in shambles whether after a year or two when he gets his trial, he goes free or not. Sad that this happened in such a rabidly anti-gun state.

Somebody might do a jail break one day? Since mask and cover is the new thing, nobody would know who they were.
