We're stripping metal to take to the recycling place this week sometime.
Well I'm helping in between doing dishes, laundry, making meals, etc. lol
Hubby's on vacation this week
Today we're having steaks and baked potatoes
Tomorrow we're having bbq ribs and macaroni salad
After that I have some Christmas ham to use up in some things this week
Glad we have some glorious weather to do this in. 70's and low humidity and sun shinning.

Everyone stay safe. Drunks will be out and the police are out and about

Happy Labor Day, everyone!

30 years ago, I purchased my home, right before Labor Day. It was a HUD home, and what I didn't know, a home that HUD needed to get rid of quickly, because a neighbor was going to sue them. It had a much higher value than what I paid for it then, and is worth more than 20 times what I paid for it now. It needed lots of work and still needs work. I keep a list of things to do on the house and I keep working on it. At one time, a former custodian owned the house and lived in it with his wife and 13 children, 10 of them being boys.

During these times, when so many people are struggling, I am so grateful to own my home, to have it paid off, and not have to worry about rent, and where I am going to live. I worked hard, live frugally, and have kept a quiet life. I didn't spend money on new cars, a nice vacation every year, or an expensive wardrobe. I didn't party and eat out much. I kept my nose to the grindstone and my eye on the prize. I am cautious with money.

I am a privileged old white guy. I was privileged to get my first job at 15. I was privileged work while completing my high school years. I was privileged to vote and get my concealed pistol permit before I owned a pistol. I was privileged to work without collecting unemployment ever.
I was privileged to buy a home and get it taken by a divorce after marrying an addict. I was privileged to buy a new home and work to pay it off. I was privileged to be rearended by a person of color who had no insurance. That gave me the privilege to be forced into retirement, eat up the two 401Ks that I had to pay for two MRIs and two surgeries. I was privileged to sell my house and buy a new one in a better place with cash and build a garage and a shop with the help of my brother. I worked doing what I could to build up my savings to the point I am at now.

I guess I was too busy building a life to go out and complain about the bad things that happened to me. I have been totally blessed my whole life!
