I've got a different twist for advise to London.
Here in the US, we have plenty of inner-city shootings/murders/etc. However, the majority of those crimes are committed by thugs, and they are committed AGAINST thugs. Of course most of our thugs have no religion. If only you could get the muslim-ness out of your thugs in London, they'd just focus on killing other non-muslim-ness thugs!
But take away guns, take away knives, violent nuts are going to find something to kill people with. Cars, sticks, kitchen utensils, mechanics tools, they will find something. Why not just go to the end goal: lock everyone up in rubber rooms completely controlled by the mother gov't? Sounds like The Matrix!

99% of these attacks are black street gangs fighting for turf or someone did not show dem nuff spect. The Islamists are only involved in about 1%.
I thought I saw where in this article where a woman was involved. That doesn't mean she's not a thug, I "was reading into it" with the assumption it was a muslim attacking a woman situation.
If the crimes in London are mostly thug-against-thug, I'd say give them guns so they can get the job done quicker! Yes, I know, enough innocents are killed as bystanders. But I have little pity for thugs who become victims.

Aha let me clarify things for my Texan chum. If its Muslims carrying out Jihadi attacks The BBC eventually will admit its a terror attack though they may NEVER say Muslim or Jihad . but when its black on black street violence they will always say anything that does NOT mention colour either for perps or victims.
Late 90's early 2000's Nashville had a out break of Hispanic gang crime . It shook that normaly calm City into the new century . The BP (brown pride) Gang grew out of Nashville's Hispanic Community and took on all the better known Gangs . I knew a Police officer that was part of the task force that helped suppress the Gang war . They did but He stayed a nervous wreck .
