Lets put together a mini kit.

I've recently gotten access to these things at a better price than this:

Anyway, they come with a neat carry pouch. I was looking at this thing and my brain kind of kicked in. quite a bit of useful space in this thing! Let's fill it up! I'm doing this on the fly so some stuff might change.
A spoon and a fork if not included.
A quality folding knife, I'm using a cold steel SR-1, but I considered a Buck 110 lite.
A decent tactical light with the batteries stored separately in a baggie.
50' of nylon cord.
10' of paracord.
a couple of safety knife blades.
a 10X10 sheet of plastic.
2 disposable lighters.
a Life straw water purifier straw.
I might get an emergency blanket in this thing, I don't have one handy to try.
Looks like I might get a few Band-Aids, a roll of gauze, and a suture kit. If I'm lucky.
Just something for under the car seat. Be sure you grab a canteen and a cup!

Interesting. I like your choice of contents. I would add some Super Glue rather than a suture kit, but the needle and thread could have other uses. Maybe a whistle for signaling. You can get whistles that are very flat. I don't know if a Life Straw would fit. I would check dimensions. You might need a smaller filter. You have the 5 C's covered. I love making small kits. I have them everywhere.

the small ones will, I'm just calling it a Lifestraw, it's Outdoors brand from Academy.
I'm going to get back into stashing kits here and there IF I have time.

This is one of the systems I followed to build a kit. I keep this one, all three tiers, in my car all the time. Your mini kit would be a Tier 1, that you could keep on your person at all times.

I'll just add that I like to carry such things (organized by type and purpose) in zip open & close canvas bags, relatively small and flat, to be carried in one larger canvas bag.

I know there are mixed emotions about Temu, but I have purchased several of these pouches and love them. I even use one as a wallet when I am traveling. Just like everything else on Temu, they are dirt cheap.

1)
a stainless steel combo folder with three inch blade
six foot tape measure, lip balm, eraser, old credit cards,
Bic lighter/matches, magnet, Multifunctional strap.
super glue, mini drill chuck.
2)
a stainless steel folder with two inch blade
one inch spring clamp, lip balm, eraser, old credit cards,
Bic lighter/matches, magnet, Multifunctional strap.
Swivel hook, roll wire.
3)
old timer folder with two blades
two- one inch spring clamp, lip balm, eraser, old credit card,
matches, magnet, Multifunctional strap.
magnesium fire starter, sparkless plastic drift 5" X 3/4 sq.
3" X 3" plastic cutting board, 3x magnifier 2" X'4"
These are for pockets when you have to leave in a rush or are on foot in rough terrain. Of course you should carry them in your truck or BOB also.
I have canvas bags & tins, with includes a tender fire starter bag.

Need a cloth or bandana to wrap the fork & spoon so everybody in the woods will not know you are out there. In Basic Training that was drill into our heads.

Temu is one of the very advertising links I've hit on, and then only because I've heard good things about here. I opened an account but haven't used it yet. I've already been phasing out Amazon in favor of Walmart. There's still a place for eBay, too.

good ideas. id add stainless steel toe nail clipper - can easily do finger and toe nails-- some tylenol ad one of those tiny bottles of eye drops. ever see those ;ittle tablets of compressed paper towl or TP? those are cool. just some things i found extra looking for stuff for a bag i wanted to make for grandson

I believed they were first coined by Dave Canterbury, a survival expert, and the owner of the Pathfinder School.
He has categories of gear that will help your chances of survival, granted these are mostly bushcrafting skills.

1.) Combustion - a means to start fire
2.) Cutting - knives, saws, axes
3.) Cover - shelter from the elements
4.) Container - vessels to carry water
5.) Cordage - rope, string, wire

I really do try to make sure I have all of these in my kits.

I just went to Temu just to check it out. On their site they had some battery packs that looked like Dewalt batteries, but they weren't. Priced at $23, no doubt they were some cheap POS Chinese junk. A real Dewalt battery of this size is about $300. I don't think that I'll be buying anything from there.

I thought of a couple more items that would work in your mini kit. First, put duct tape on an old credit card or expired drivers' license. You could get a decent amount on it, and it would still be pretty flat.

Second, make a Ranger Lighter. You mentioned two Bic Lighters in the original kit. Have you ever seen this Ranger Lighter? Very easy to make. Would still be small and flat, and would have multiple uses. I have them in many of my kits, and in my EDC bag.

Great idea! I think I can find space for a medicine bottle full of paraffin-soaked cotton balls. I could use some ranger bands to hold some extra stuff like a road flare, candles or a lumen stick.

Maybe you can find some small pill containers. They would be flatter. Use birthday candles or the flat tealight candles.
