Sparks are scary..I'd have to watch someone do this..The capacitor holds the charge
Use 2 screwdrivers with insulated handles
Touch the two terminals and cross the screwdrivers.

2000 volts sounds like that be not good to mess with without proper knowledge of the how to n why..Very easy to do... once you learn why.
