Thanks for the post Clyde. I've had to get my own sealer. I ruined the wife's one, so bought two at Walmart. I didn't think of the fork stabbing into the bag..guess the stuff I make is pretty near time. I noticed he didn't mention shelf life on them or maybe I missed it.
Here is a good recipe that I use instead of always using MRE's. I guess it best belongs in the cooking forum.
Two cups of dry rice (I use Japanese Nikishi brand), but instant will do in ziplock bag,
A chicken bullion cube Vacuum pack it with a small 1/2 pack of Knorr veggie soup mix, it makes it a bit salty, but then you don't have to drink a hydration packet if your not drinking water in the field. Add one packet of Tyson's chicken in vacuum packet (sold in Walmart, next to Tuna area). You can add the other things that you like and then vacuum packet. You can also add a Kikkoman Curry Paste packet in there if you like things spicy. This packet will make enough food for 2 very hungry people.
