when I was younger we did some pretty work intensive wood moving methods, My son and I used to buck and hand split 1/3 of a cord at a time , and bring it back to his house on his farm hand F10 loader, then pack it down to his basement in rubber maids, and re stack it. Just thinking about it makes me sore now.Have you ever stacked cut wood on mobile racks and moved one indoors all at once?
My landlord and I both did that until we both got too beat up to do it.
What kind of wood do you have available?I cut all my firewood by hand, I have only a small simple set up, if I keep it simple its much easier post SHTF when the power goes out.
mostly poplar, Yellow and balsam/black, there is a bit of dead spruce. kind of a weird thing, not much "good" wood around here. But really poplar is a very decent firewood, it just takes a little more, and almost no creosote. What kind of wood do you have available?
That last statement seems true in many aspects of life.As this adventure goes on, I keep looking for improvements. and less machine and or labor involvement.
Part of my "problem" is that I am only using standing dead of fresh windfalls, which usually means the better stuff is kind of scattered, and due to the wood species, sometimes you don't know what you have until it is cut.
Another is that the next improvement doesn't "show the need" until another one is made.
