Where was quality control? Where was the welding inspectors? Even in non-critical joints most companies still do random x-rays on the welds. It's a pain to do, but not impossible, to take the welds out and reweld. I've been on jobs where thousands of welds had to be scarfed out and rewelded.
 
That is criminal and should be prosecuted. Shouldn't be that hard to figure out who did those. Bunch of woke libs I'd bet.
When I was a certified welder I had to stamp each weld with a unique stamp that was registered to me. Something doesn't really smell right about this story. Many of my welding jobs were 100% X-rayed. In the oil fields every weld was inspected and X-rayed.
