OMG - We're having a strong earthquake here right now.

Found it. This was actually a 5.1 mag according to other websites, and less than 100 miles from me as the crow flies. Happened on land, less that 2 km below ground surface. Now we will probably be getting rolling aftershocks for the rest of the day.

A little bit too close for comfort for my liking, and my head and body is still feeling weird from the lack of equilibrium and slight nausea that occurs during a quake.

Relax, let your energy re-center. I get like that during solar flares and bomb tests.
Thanks, I'm okay now, centered, it just takes a few minutes. We're getting some rolling going on now, I can't really feel it much but all my houseplants are shivering and shaking with the rolling. Actually, every time we get a quake the first thing I do is look at the houseplants to see how they're responding, I usually can get a good idea of what magnitude it is by how gentle or violent the response of the plants is. I have a 5 foot tall Norfolk Pine tree indoors and it really whips it's branches back and forth when we get a quake over 5 mag.

It's all cool.

All is well, and I think yesterday's event probably has something to do with the episodic slow slip away and sudden slam back again that happens every 14 months between Vancouver Island's separate plate and the BC mainland's plate.

No damage was done to any structures despite the rather violent shaking and concussion waves that occurred this time. Right now (between yesterday and for the next several days) there are engineers doing thorough inspections on all of the bridges in south west BC (there are a lot of bridges) to ensure that their structural integrity has not been compromised due to the loud concussion and the shaking, rocking 'n' rolling that occurred.

After watching news reports last night it would appear that the worst effects that happened was to the many people like myself who were most sensitive to the very loud !! WHUMP !! sound suddenly coming from within the ground (it's a bit like the sound that fire makes when it suddenly explodes only it's 100 times louder) and the concussion waves that cause disorientation and nausea as the concussion waves pass through the soft tissues of the body. But that doesn't last long. So everyone's okay.
