Kind of kicking around the idea and it doesn't have to be black and white or extreme.... this could just involve a move to somewhere more coastal in the US. But has anyone thought of relocating out of the country entirely? Perhaps to somewhere more tropical where food and water would be presumably more easily obtained? Not to mention the fact of getting out of a country that up until the end of days will have X million criminals behind bars and then suddenly not behind bars, .... most of us have prepped (myself included) to be ready for the shooting galley, but what about living somewhere (post SHF) with a lower concentration of ammo and firearms? Kind of thinking along the lines of colonial or frontier days..... I'd rather be playing cowboys and Indians than cowboys and cowboys/Indians/gangbangers/and quite likely commandos.

there's 2 locations i've thought about when it comes to moving out of the USA..1 is another country..but yet, that could be just as bad if not worse as where im living right now.2nd is a island some where that's large enough to accommodate others as well as myself.one with a lagoon or what ever for the boat(s) to be hidden in..

an island where you could grow your own food, fish and it should be easy to defend if needed,we have an old seafortress right outside our capital and if it would be empty after a SHTF situation I would take it and claim it ;)

Come down to Oz and settle up north, the climate is such that you hardly even need shelter (except for rain in the summer and any rock overhang will suite for that) and there are places so remote nobody will ever find you. I reckon with some bush tucker training you could live indefinitely out of sight and out of mind.

I don't know how you Aussies do it. Seems that place is where God (or creator of your choice) just experimented with new and different ways to KILL you.... Even a frickin' jellyfish can kill you there. Seriously!

:)

Did you see my other post, a bloke was eaten by a 15-foot crocodile just a couple of days ago, it took him right out of his boat. And yes there are a couple of jelly fish that can be fatal. My credo is

"Anywhere that's warm enough to go in the water is not safe enough, and anywhere that's safe is not warm enough"

It works for me :)

Tropics has its own set of problems in particularly diseases we ain't custom too, in most of of the places I have gone in relation to the tropics, I would get more mercy from the 'X million criminals' here then from the few folks that roam the tropics of course that's if you mean 'tropic' as in between the tropic of cancer and capricorn?

I live just south of the Tropic of Capricorn, IMO about perfect climate as it's not too cold in winter, not too hot in summer, low humidity, no tropical diseases, and enough rain to do most things although not enough for growing food with our small roof but should be ok if I sink a bore.

land of Oz and land of the Kiwis would be great if it wasn't for the gun laws though I would love to live in Oz in particularly around barron gorge or anywhere around Queenslands wet tropics for that matter

erm. never considered bugging out of the country. would consider parts of malaysia. Somewhere into the rain forest probably.

But would love to be in Oz :p

Yeah, it's great up there, gets a bit tedious in the monsoon season (especially during the "build up") but if you can handle that no problems. I have family up in NT, they have a 600sq km property bordering on one of the major rivers, you could bug out to the "back 40" of that and never be found :)

Myrrph, you've only got to walk a 100 metres to emigrate don't you? :)

I suspect that when the SHTF, most criminals will stay behind bars and die there as the guards take off to tend to their own.

That will be a real conundrum for prison officers I would think. OK leave the mass-murdering paedophiles inside, but some people are there for a parking ticket.

I've worked very closely with a lot of prison guards over the last couple of years. For the most part, they don't care what they are in for, if they are in, they are scum.

i never considered leaving my country or even my county come to that, I know my way about, I know the customs and I know the people, go abroad and you may or may not know the language, probably don't know the customs or the people, go abroad either before or after SHTF you will be marked out as "that foreigner" and targeted for what you might have, no thanks, I'd rather take my chances here, at least I know what they are.

Im not leaving here , Its rough out there . For those that would bug out to Central America I know the coco River is full of headless skeleton's

I've lived and worked in other countries for many years, from Central Asia, SE Asia, Africa, Middle East, Russia and eastern Europe. Some of these places are very remote and would be good places to "disappear". The problem that I would have with moving to a foreign country for good is that I've already been away from family and friends for too long. They would never move out of the US.
