Jazzy when you going to throw in another one of those off the wall threads?

Give em time, I'm sure they're already contemplating their next move......🤣

Anyone else here battling the winter crud??? Day after Christmas I came down with it and been battling it ever since. While I do feel better than initially, I'm still trying to cough up that hairball, but it stops just before I can spit it out.........ok TMI, but you get the idea (even if you don't want to, sorry about that)

I just pulled some beef bones and shanks from the freezer to make a big pot of broth, some to can later and some for beef barley soup in my near future. Maybe today or tomorrow. At this point I'm kinda sick of the chicken soup and ready for a change. And maybe the extra steam/humidity in the house will help break up the crud. Atleast I'm hoping.

Well, I wasn't really sure where to put it as a 're-introduction'. But I guess being away for so long, a little more info is called for.

I live in Western Washington....the crazy side of the mountains. Still have a big garden, but did get rid of my chickens last year. Not the best timing on my part, but couldn't keep the dogs away from them and was tired of the never ending rat population that has since magically disappeared. It's been nice not worrying about them. And have since built a solid relationship with the dogs, enough so I am considering getting chickens again, but will need to build a Fort Knox to keep them in first.

OK, maybe a little more back story..........I did have a senior (15yo) Jack Russell Terrier and a 12+yo Sheperd/Lab/Pit mix, when we then adopted 2 Pit mix pups (litter mates). Did have to put the 2 older dogs down, about a year apart.

Of course now that I'm trying to think of what else to say, the mind goes blank. I'm sure it'll come back to me eventually.

Hello....question: can you put a picture of your pets in the all about Dogs section. Thank you. Much appreciated.

@JustMe I got sick a month ago and still have a stupid cough. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting sick again and then i don't. You are not the only one, there are lots of people I know that got sick then still have this lingering cough. Not gross and all nasty sounding, just can't clear it.
Feel better soon.

yep, that sounds just like what I have too. First few days was like coughing up razor blades and feeling like I'd been hit by a freight train, then got better a little every day until last week. Now it's like an up & down.....some days it's better, other days maybe not.

Hope you can kick this and feel better soon as well. Not fun at all

I'm feeling okay, just an annoying cough, but you are coughing up "razor blades!" Honey! That is bad and sounds like you need something to get ya through it!! Are you sure it isn't something more serious? GAH!

That was in the first few days and I've had that many times over the years. Just hurts when I cough, like the bronchial tubes being ripped out. I did take some OTC meds, along with the standard home remedies in those first few days.

Now it's just the lingering cough and runny nose......no more ripping or razor blades. I do feel much better than I did, just not over it yet.

I’ve learned since making my own tinctures… 3hrs equals a day. For every 3hrs I delay taking antivirals it adds 24hrs of sick time on the back end. If I’m in town etc where I don’t have tinctures with me I go out of my way to get home and start taking antivirals. If, heaven forbid, I’m delayed until the next morning, I can count on being sick 3 to 4 days.

These days… the moment I feel anything, I cough or sneeze funny, get the slightest chill… I throw my whole arsenal of tinctures at it and I’m fine by the next morning.

Example… my cousin called last week. Said she had the flu and needed tinctures. During the conversation I learned she’d already been sick 3days… said ‘I kept meaning to call you’ ‘ I kept thinking I’d be better by morning…’

It was too late tinctures or vitamin C to help. She already had a full blown case of the flu. Nothing was going to help but time. I gave her several tinctures anyway… 2 days later she still ended up at a Doc-in-a-box with a sinus infection and bronchitis.

Time is everything with a virus. That’s why I throw everything I have but the kitchen sink the moment I even think I’m getting something. Probably why I’ve only gotten a full blown case of the flu but 3 times in the last 17yrs. Every time I got sick, I couldn’t get to my tinctures in time to help.

If you can’t fight the virus the right way… don’t wait… you can always stop at the market for a bottle of OJ and a small jar of honey! That’ll do more to fight the virus than a pharmacy full of otc’s to fight the symptoms!

Okay, I’m putting my soap box away now! 🤣

Odd thing I never felt it coming on. Morning after Christmas I felt fine, later I laid down for a nap and when I woke up, felt like crap. Started right away drinking some tea with honey and lemon, vitamin C, and OTC meds. Took a few days but was feeling better. Now I just have the lingering cough and drippy nose and feeling 'not quite right'.....mostly tired & sluggish. I'll get over it, but it's taking it's own sweet time about it

Sounds familiar, nasty stuff, probably not the best thing to deal with at my age as it's like coughing up a lung, anyway it's good to see you here as it's a good place to be, amongst good people.
