I am pretty sure if you can wait a little longer phidaux will be making a concise explanation and post it here some time today. He has a few family errands to do, and will be only on phone for a bit. And we all know that phones only like to make sort answers, and they spell in an interesting manner.

How about a short sentence or two here, so people won't have to chase around to find it.

Going to the doctor now , will write it up as soon as I get back.

Jim

If I may be so bold as to try and summarize for @phideaux from what I have gleaned:

The parent company that owns a number of forums (including PS) decided to let one person have total authority and control. That person decided to oust Austin for no valid reason and then severely handicap the moderators. Then some of those moderators and even members who spoke out were also excommunicated. So essentially the people who actually built, recruited, grew and maintained these forums on behalf of the parent company were kicked to the curb. Those persons decided that would not stand and two new forums enveloping all of the original forum topics were created. Those forums of course being this one and talk firearms. But that is just one piece of the puzzle. I believe it goes even deeper than that.

I was on one forum for 14 yr.s, joined in 2002. One of a couple I didn't get banned on,except a couple of temp bans. Cliques and politics destroyed that site, imo. Plus they took off the cuss block so it got nasty and personal attacks. This is just my opinion.
I had never been online till my son joined military in 1997 so in 2001 after 911 I got Web TV. He said it would be easier to reach him. I had never typed so I learned to hunt and peck. Still not computer savey.
Free speech is important long as it is not personally attacking others if they disagree.

A very good summary Sentry, but as you said, it goes a tad deeper than that.

Us as administrators had our controls ripped away as a result of the power hungry, "sole authoritarian", so we were just pretty faces, so to speak. Coming over here was like leaving a job with a horrible boss, and finding the most incredible job immediately afterwards. We are now free to spread our wings, we have great people we work with, and we are free from the embarrassing incessant ads, which seemed more important to the "supreme being" than any member could ever be.

Went back this morning and tagged a few people at PS about this place. I suspect I will get the boot soon. I was quit sad when so many left there, felt like I was losing some good friends/family. Glad someone reached out and tagged me.

So, I'm on the PS site... Only 2 posts today...

You messaged me but in your message, you listed another CMG homesteading site instead of this one. Was that an oops or intentional?
I'm registered at that CMG homesteading site but in 2015, bad things happened there with the new Admin and people left there in droves as well.

The Xenforo software has a feature in the censor where you type one thing, and another will replace it instead of the ********. They are using that feature.

Please don't use the address you see, they've have that to be replaced with the HT website. Use this and see if it will work there. http://bit.ly/2BzYwUl

I like to have never got back here. The link was changed by 'somebody' so maybe they own the other site too, don't know. It took me to the same place it took you.

They own HT, like they own PS and the gun forums. They apparently are using that tool on all. If you space out the url, that may get around the censor/replace factor.
And please save this to your favorites so you can find it easily.

I searched this site on StartPage and couldn't find it only the CMW site came up.
Maybe because your site is new? I finally went back to my mail and got it from there. Although I don't like email notifications guess this time it was good I got one.

I got a message from CBL this morning and the link he had posted was for HT. I knew that wasn't right but had this one booked marked already. I was at HT when everyone left. Anyone message Pess so he knows where everyone went when he gets back to civilization?

I hope so. I liked Pess, he was a fair debater on all things. Hope he is doing well in his new home.

Several people have sent the link out through PS only to have it redirect them elsewhere. You need to use the URL that @Angie posted or just break it up like forum(dot)homestead(dot)org or something similar.

Another option is to send them your email address and ask them to get in touch with you without any hint as to why, or with misdirection. I sent out a few PM's like that already.

I am maintaining my status over there as long as possible to help people find their way from one place to another but I am sure my days are numbered.

All the links to here now go to the other site. Mine did and I took awhile to get back here.
