Dademoss, <3 the kitty!
I wear slip-on shoes because laces always get caught on something-- cat claws, dog teeth, thorned weeds, etc. I like mine completely flat. Even a little bit of a heel hurts my ankles. It is so hard to find women's shoes that don't have some sort of heel and I spent so many years wearing sandals while I lived overseas that I have to wear wide shoes. I wear 8-1/2 so finding a half size in wide makes it even harder. Then I have a very high arch on the top of my foot so its hard to find shoes that don't crush the top of my foot in the middle. I have thick ankles and calves so finding boots that can go over my ankles is a royal pain-- plus most of them have heels. My feet are just small enough that they don't seem to make my size in men's shoes. I think I'd be a 7 wide in Men's shoes and I've never found below size 8 in any stores near me.

Anyone else have one of these stools while growing up?
My grandma had one. My uncle got it when she passed.

Yes! And I know several people that still have one!
Take off the back rest and I have the same stool currently in my kitchen. It's not as pretty as the one in your photo as it gets used every day so there's dings, dents, and scratches. Wouldn't trade it for anything manufactured today.

I wish I had one. It was a great place to sit, or to use to get into a higher up shelf in a cabinet.
Ours was yellow (maybe it was light green). I don't know if that was the original color or the repainted color though. I remember at one time it had paint splatters from the wall on it, so it was a multi-use device for home painting evidently, not just a kitchen tool.

I remember that ours had paint on it as well. It was probably used when the kitchen was repainted. That kitchen got repainted every couple years and it was always mint green. It had been painted so many times that the texturing was muted by all of the paint.
Grandma's was faded out to pink.

I have a narrow foot, and have a difficult time finding shoes to fit as well, although, as I've gotten older, I am able to wear normal width shoes easier. When I was really young, I wore a AA and if I could find a AAAA heel, even better. My grandmother and I were very similar in many aspects, and her shoes fit me well.

Growing up I had a white one of those step chairs. The movers were supposed to pack it to send to us when we moved overseas but they left it behind (along with a lot of other stuff for no apparent reason). They also came back after we were no longer home and packed up stuff we didn't want them to pack up. The tenants tossed it outside and destroyed it. We bought another one later on but it wasn't machined properly so the back wouldn't go on. Cats shredded the seat (which was plastic over some kind of padding).

I would love to have one. I'll have to keep my eyes open on Craigslist and other places. The one we had when I was a kid was used a lot.

That is the kind of thing that I repair or redo. I found some old Samsonite folding chairs at an estate sale, just like the ones my parents had. I removed the padded seats, spray painted them and then recovered them with naugahyde. They look great. I have another pair in my garage, waiting for warmer weather for me to do the same to. I had a folding table, card table, and the top to that got damaged. I recovered it to match the chairs. When I get those other two chairs redone, I will have a set of 4 chairs to go with the table.
