I went the opposite way, and cut both of my index fingernails all the way down so it is impossible for me to open a can without using the opener.

Plus I have to find stuff to stick under tabs to open cat food cans so a thing like that would be great for me. I bite my nails so no useful fingernails to pry stuff up.
