As some of the other posters said, the flavor of the powder is the first to go. What happens is the called the Maillard Browning effect, essentially the amino acids and sugars in the powder react to break down the lysine. Once the lysine is broken down, the powder is no longer a complete protein, which means its effectiveness is compromised.

Since the taste and smell are the first to go, always trust your senses, if it tastes off - you may be better off with a new batch. So it won't last longer than 2 years even if stored in a cool, dry place.

Welcome to the forum Mr. Info. Stop over to the introductions area and say hello!

I wonder if any of the Walmart stores has them stocked? I once heard that a store in my area had food storage items stocked. I drove there, not close to home, and they had none. Ordering and having it delivered is an option but sometimes being able to walk in and walk out with what you want is also a good option.
My Walmart stocks them - not a huge variety, but always whole eggs and scrambled eggs, usually a cheese or two, and a rotating variety of fruits and veggies.

I need a rooster. But neighbor can't stand to hear them he is 20 acres over but still heard ours so we gave it away. He's an ex cop with an attitude so try not to upset his PTSD.
He lost his wife a few years ago so don't wan to bother him.
Don't want powder.

This is rather an aside, but it does relate to powdered protein. Back in the 1960's I was working out in a gym in Seattle and a friend mentioned getting a protein made by Blair, slow dried eggs and whole milk, trouble is the milk locked up my digestive system to where it felt like I was passing cannon balls, I did some studies on this problem and found that if people have problems digesting cows milk it may lead to leaching of calcium from your bones, I quit that protein and went to drinking goats milk which has highly digestible calcium and protein, especially if it's made into kefer, I never had problems with goats milk.

Before I started KETO I drank a lot of milk. I always have and never had any trouble. As adults we tend to lose the ability to generate the enzyme necessary to digest the lactate and proteins in milk. I never lost that ability.
I wonder if the continued use of milk kept my body producing it and now that it has been a couple of years have I lost that ability? I guess time will tell.
