Minneapolis City Council Unanimously Votes To Get Rid Of Police
The Minneapolis City Council unanimously voted Friday to “dismantle” the city’s police department as their solution to police violence after George Floyd’s death.
The City Council passed a resolution to focus on a community-based public safety system. President Lisa Bender, City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins and other council members made the announcement at a rally Sunday afternoon, saying they plan to “dismantle” their police department. The money for the police will instead go towards a “community-based public safety model,” according to Reuters.
I can see the lawyers lining up to sue on behalf of anybody and everybody that gets injured or killed due to a lack of police department. Next a safety group will not have access to any police inter-cooperation. No powers of arrest, other than citizens arrest ( good luck with that -- the lawyers will eat them alive). As usual, city council is talking out their butts. Pandering for votes or afraid of their constituents. I am laughing my azz off. This is going to be fun to watch. I can see all the Uhaul trucks lining up and all the companies moving out. If you own property there, sell now, it will be worthless shortly.
Agree 100%.SIASD. Been stopped by the police. Been put in jail by the police. Here is the big secrete. Don't screw around with them. You will lose!!! Mind your manner, do as you are told and then get a lawyer, just that simple. No macho crap.
Nuts!

Many american schools and colleges have already announced they will no longer work with local PDs
I’m glad. Mainly because I don’t live there and they aren’t trying out this social experiment here. I do think it is a good idea to test this out somewhere. If it works, great, then we could try it in other places. More likely though it will be a miserable failure and then we stay with a way to protect people everywhere else. I do think our police need some policing and reforms, but dismantling them is insane.https://dailycaller.com/2020/06/12/minneapolis-city-council-votes-to-abolish-police/

I think Brent is saying he expects it to fail, and thus become a example of what NOT to do. The only problem with that is whenever the socialists or communists fail, they redirect the blame and say it wasn't given a chance. How many times does communism have to be an abject failure before they will admit that it's an abject failure?I’m confused. First you say you think it’s a good idea to test it out somewhere...since the only plan you are backing at this point IS dismantling the police, how can you then say, dismantling them is insane?

I think in many ways what we are seeing is a rehash of the French Revolution which was all about revenge with little thought about what comes next. The American Revolution was more successful because they spent years debating how best to "form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."
But as Alexanter Tytler said, the death knell of a Democracy is when "voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury."
The main thing I am glad about with this is that it’s not happening here where I live. I think when this fails there hopefully the far left liberals will see it was a stupid idea. If it somehow does succeed then great, they could do it elsewhere. I’m not optimistic of any success from it though. As I said though I do agree there should be police reform as many do get abusive. I also think that trying some new and different ideas in limited areas to see what could work makes sense. I just don’t think dismantling the police 100% anywhere is a good idea though.I’m confused. I’m all for trying new ideas, but this one isn’t anything I would have wanted. You can like a concept yet not like all the details in it. This idea is insane, but reform isn’t. I think requiring the police to help each other when one gets out of line makes a lot more sense. Them having immunity from being held accountable is wrong too. Looks like that one is already coming to an end though. That is still saying one thing and then another. If one said, I think dismantling the police is insane, but then said, of course if they went the insane route and disabled the police they would prove how insane it is. See the difference? One can’t back an idea and then say it is insane.

if somewhere has no Police then they have no law, it will be a free for all, or as we say WROL-without rule of law, also known as Anarchy, might just as well call it TEOTWAWKI because that is what it will be.
WTF! Ain't this a twist that makes no g'damn sense.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh (D) has come out in favor of removing a statue of Abraham Lincoln that has stood in the city for more than a century — but is opposed to renaming Faneuil Hall, which is named for a slave owner and is on the site of a slave market.

Here we go again, another one expecting democrats to use common sense and balanced judgement.

The LAPD has run out of cash and can't pay officers overtime; morale is at 'rock bottom'
"It's very disheartening," Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz, vice president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said. "The officers have lost trust, they were told, cancel days off, cancel vacations, and we will pay you cash overtime, then a memo comes out that they have no more cash. The officers are not happy right now, aside from taking bottles, bricks, I don't know what else they can handle and now to be told there's no cash, they're at their wit's end."

They should walk off the job, let the Dems enjoy the rewards of their socialist policies.
Wasn't so much common sense as it was about uneducated idiot, Lincoln was never a slave owner, he freed the slaves and now they want to tear down the statue. this goes beyond common sense. French President Macron said it best, France Will Not ‘Erase History’ by Removing Statues.
