This is one of the movies I own and was a prediction of the future though what we see today in the 21st century and not the 22nd century.

It is alarming to give the decision to a single person. I am all for euthanasia in a lot of cases. To ease suffering, to end a comatose patient that has extremely low chances of ever improving etc. I haven’t read the article and am usually suspect of any one view of a story anyways. Our govt supports so many brain dead people with no chance of recovery for years that require advanced medical care around the clock. We’re talking huge amounts of your tax dollars. I have no problem with ending these programs.

The nazis were very into this type of thing.
At least this would require the patient's signed consent from an earlier time, when they were still able to consent, where they said that if they ever reached a certain point, they wanted to be euthanized. Kind of like a living will (where you state what medical treatments or interventions you would or would not want to receive, in case you are incapacitated) but this would be more accurately termed a dying will. . .

Unfortunately there are brain dead people on both sides of the isle now days. No one seems to want to look at the issues anymore but just focus on wether it’s form the other side or not. My wife is a nurse in western Canada and has worked around the doctors and nurses that work on the assisted suicide team. Quebec has always done their own thing but in B.C. it is very strict on the process. Only the patient can make the decision and the decision has to be made when they are not in a confused state.

I don’t have a problem with a family keeping someone alive for years even when they have little or no hope of recovery. But only when the family can afford the costs. When it is on the tax dollars there should be a time when a board can make a decision based on the patients severity and chances. My sister is a respiratory therapist in a facility that the vast majority of patients have zero chance of recovery. Yet they are obligated to continue keeping them on ventilators for decades. I believe it is a huge economic machine making money driving this over the compassions for the patient.

I'll agree on this topic. Charity has it's placed, but it also should have it's limits. But this 'charity' should never come from the gov't, it is not 'charity' when gov't either steals it as taxes or borrows to fund it. An example, last month Texans voted to borrow $700 million to give to cancer research. Crazy, borrowing it then giving it away?

And those "death panels" are real. I lost a sister to one. She was in long term care facility due to several health issues. Before being placed in the facility, she was very close to death. A doctor finally put her on a medication that basically brought her back to life. She regained the strength to walk and get around on her own. She knew everyone and could hold conversions with people, especially family. THEN, the "death panel" meeting in private, made a decision (without any input from her physician or family) to remove her from the drugs as they were "too expensive". She almost immediately went into a coma and could no longer communicate. After the physician found out what had happened (removing my sister from the medication) he demanded they restart the medication. It was too late, she could not recover, SO DEATH PANELS IN THE US ARE REAL. HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE DIED AT THE HANDS OF THE DEATH PANELS.
