The Baofeng's are popular amongst preppers and hams alike, I have one with pre-programmed local emergency ham frequencies (for monitoring only) but also have the FRS and GMRS frequencies plus local radio stations programed. They are cheap in price but well built.

Their are so much information on the internet regarding the Baofeng radios and a ton of aftermarket stuff for these radios.

Got three UV5RCs added Nagoya NA-771 Antenna and speaker mike. Bought Battery eliminators and 3000 MA batteries and AA convertors. i even gave one to Jonnte.
