I wanted to talk about this story and to discuss why there are aspects of this story that are prepping related. Someone asked me why the mom went to the parking lot of the dentist if she knew she was being followed. It has been suggested that she should have gone to the local police station. In the midst of this conversation, it became fact that several people have no idea where their local police station is. If you had an appointment somewhere out of your neighborhood, would you know where a police station was in that area?

Road rage shooting in Colorado leaves boy dead, mom and brother critically wounded
USA TODAY NETWORKCaitlin Hendee, KUSA-TV, DenverPublished 6:42 p.m. ET June 16, 2018 | Updated 6:43 p.m. ET June 16, 2018

DENVER — A suspect in a road rage shooting followed a vehicle occupied by a mother and her three children for several blocks before shooting the woman and two of the children point-blank in a suburban Denver office parking lot, killing one of the children, police say.

According to Westminster police records, the victims in the Thursday shooting were a 41-year-old woman and two boys, ages 13 and 8.

A third boy, age 12, was not shot. He exited the car and fled the scene, police said.

The 13-year-old was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The mother and 8-year-old were in critical condition.

Police have not identified the victims. The family released a statement asking for privacy.

A fourth person, John Gale, 40, was also shot while sitting in his vehicle with his daughter, according to police.

Police say Jeremy John Webster, 23, was arrested later Thursday without incident in Castle Rock. Webster acknowledged shooting four people in a parking lot and told officers he “has mental health issues,” according to a search warrant, which did not specify his mental status.

“Jeremy stated that he has mental health issues and just (started) a new prescribed medication today,” Westminster Police Detective Matt Calhoon wrote in the warrant. “Jeremy admitted that he used his Glock 19 handgun to shoot the above people and that he secured the firearm in the trunk of his vehicle after the shooting.”

This Friday, June 15, 2018, booking photo provided by the Westminster Police Department shows Jeremy Webster, who is the suspect in the shooting at 80th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Denver. Webster is been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and attempt to commit a felony in a Colorado shooting. (Photo: AP)

He was being held at the Adams County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.

Webster reportedly got into a road rage altercation with the woman in Westminster, a suburb of Denver, and then followed Bigelow's vehicle to the Cedarwood Square office complex, police say.

There, Webster and the woman got into an argument, and Webster pulled out a handgun and shot the woman multiple times, police say. He then shot her 13-year-old son and 8-year-old son multiple times.

Police say Webster was then seen briefly walking toward his car when he then walked back up to the 13-year-old boy and shot him again while he was on the ground.

Webster then reportedly made eye contact with Gale, who was sitting in his pickup truck in the parking lot with his 9-year-old daughter. According to police, Webster fired multiple rounds into Gale's truck, striking him in the arms.

Gale was able to put his truck in reverse and speed out of the parking lot. His daughter was not injured.

Police say Webster then fled the scene.

Webster faces charges for first-degree murder after deliberation with intent, first-degree murder with extreme indifference, first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit a class one felony.

She made several mistakes.
Pack a gun, for crying out loud, you can't avoid all bad situations.
Don't stop to argue with anyone.
Don't argue with crazy people. Even if you win the argument you haven't won anything.
If you don't know where a cop shop is call 911 and let them know what is going on.
If someone is angry and following you keep moving.

When it comes to gun fights the only winning move is to avoid them. If it can't be avoided then make sure the other guy looses bigger and faster.

My DW and I both know where the local and county PD are located, it wouldn't be the first time some moron/road-rager/drunk followed me into the maintenance bay of the county sheriff :) It's easier to let the sheriff know now that we have cell phones, dispatch is attached to the Sheriffs office.

I once had a man who was tailgating me for blocks. I do what I usually do, I pulled over and let him pass. Then he decided to back up, maybe to tell me something, I don't know. It wasn't friendly, I can tell you that. I was at the end of a block, so I just took off. He decided he was going to follow me. I was going to drive to the local police department, so I went around the block. He followed me. I thought maybe if I circle the block a few times, he might give it up. It just took one more turn and he realized he was just going in circles.

This is another reason to keep your gas tank pretty full. You never know when you will be driving longer than you originally thought.

Drugged up young men who play video games for a living.
These drug companies say a side effect of suicide is possible, but they need to add a side effect of shooting people is possible.
Some of them may not even be making a living, but are playing video games.

One of the pieces about the people who are responding to the people who want gun reform is a call to no violent video games. I remember decades ago before I ever saw video games, when there was an attempt to not allow violent video games. Yet, here we are, mentally ill, anti-social young people who probably spend many hours a day playing these violent video games, numbing themselves to the impact of shooting someone.

Yeah, it's not the video games. People constantly casting blame or root cause and effect anywhere but the person who committed a crime is why we have so many people getting off on pleas after committing a heinous crime. Millions of kids play these games every day and only a very small number of them commit violent acts. Let's put the blame where it should go. Directly on the person who committed such an evil crime. That way he can be punished appropriately.

As to if I know the location of police stations.... I know a few but it would be difficult to know all as I drive quite a bit out of my local area for work consistently. But I do know my local ones, carry, dont drive like a jerk, and am pretty good at handling confrontation/diffusing tense situations.
