well I chose Arkansas for a couple reasons,there is not much industry here,one large city,no great strategic targets to speak of and a lot of very rural remote areas to hid in,,,,,,,in other words if the SHTF and war breaks out why would an invader even look at this state

OST transports nuclear material to and from savannah river facility with a holdover in Ft. Smith on it's way to the Pantex nuclear bomb plant in Texas. Also in Arkansas their are Army, Air National Guard and Air Force bases with all of this putting Arkansas on the secondary nuclear target list. It doesn't help that Pine Bluff and OST holdover in Ft. Smith opens these locations up to terrorist attacks and sabotage. Not to count Arkansas nuclear one power plant.

When we travel to her home in S.W. Florida and drive through large cities
in the south we make sure our gas tank is full and NEVER stop until we are
at least 75 miles away from those cities.

Just my personal feelings about safety.

I travel with a loaded pistol under the drivers seat and DO NOT want

As a side note ethnics are fond of hitting a car driven by white folks stopped

When the whites, usually elderly, stop and get out they get robbed.

I absolutely love where I live. I hope all here feel the same about their home. Some people have a lot of free time to think and analyze the potential for "very unlikely scenarios".

I believe in the importance of preparedness as much as anyone here. However quality of life comes first in my opinion. Not everyone's idea of a quality life is the same. Figure out what's yours is first...nevermind what everyone else's is.

If you already live in an ideal SHTF location...great. If you can afford to own a 2nd property that is even more ideal...excellent.

Nothing wrong with that. However people should have their priorities in order first.

There are many lessor scenarios that are far more likely to occur than any kind of shtf situation...including natural disasters. Many people here are long retired and don't have to worry about maintaining/earning a good living or starting a family.

Some of the most desirable locations to live for some are also NOT the most ideal locations for the end of the world apocalypse.

Some people here choose to live in seclusion far from human contact. That is their choice and I see nothing wrong with this as long as they enjoy this way of life.

Unfortunately that is not an ideal way of life for everyone...even if it's the most ideal for a SHTF scenario.

Had to stop for gas in Birmingham Alabama coming back from Biloxi Louisiana. Thought I was going to have trouble with a bunch of gang banger thugs . Filled up swiped My card they were waiting near the entrance of the store looking tuff . Yea well there is a serious media bias over here. They love to focus on the gang on gang violence that 99% of the people aren't effected in an attempt to slowly take our gun rights.

Look up property in downtown Chicago or in one of the many Northern suburbs near the lake...you almost have to be rich to buy real estate here now. The poor are slowly being pushed further and further into the outskirts of the city. The crime still goes on but as long as most aren't effected by it no one cares.

The contrasts in house prices over here is insane, here in this village you can buy a three bedroom semi detached family home with front and rear gardens plus garage for £85,000 ( Under$100K) go to many cities and you need over half to three quarters of a million for the same property, YET the better schools, nicer environment and lower crime are HERE not in the expensive areas !!!
