Translation: The voice recognition is done on server somewhere, not on the TV. Same with smart phones. Yes it can be taken advantage of, but it's just how it works.

we watched some thing on tv about it within the last 2 or 3 days..and a tv repair man said that a certain part can be removed to stop that..but it includes removeing sevral parts just to get to the one that needs removeing..then puting it all back togeather..

As always, our choice to use the tech or not. Not like they couldn't really listen or find us in any myriad of ways. The data collection has been in place for decades. The almost imaginable ability to sift through it and make it useful, only for about a decade or so (if Snowden's revelations are any indication). Privacy leaves the building the moment we have these devices in our lives or go into public areas.

It makes no difference as long as we are aware of it, if we chose to connect our blu ray players and tv up to the internet then we need to be aware of the technology if we are concern then don't connect the devices to the internet or just don't purchase them all together, it really is that simple! Unfortunately people get caught up in the bells and whistles without reading all the capabilities and the fine print in the manual then cry foul when this so called 'hidden' technology is discovered.
