One Oklahoma man was arrested and another was issued a citation for hunting squirrels in a public park, police said.

Officers responded Nov. 23 at 3:45 p.m. to reports of people shooting in the area of McClure Park, according to a Nov. 25 news release from the Tulsa Police Department.

McClure Park offers many public amenities including a playground, picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, and an 18-hole disc golf course — and notably “watchable wildlife,” according to the state’s tourism website.

Police found two men carrying BB guns and upon inspection of their car, found “at least half a dozen dead squirrels in the trunk,” authorities said.
Officers also found two pistols inside the vehicle, police said.

The men told police they were at the park “to hunt squirrels and were planning to take them home to cook them,” the department said.
Police said it is a violation of municipal ordinances to discharge an air rifle within city limits and to hunt in Tulsa city parks.

One of the men, who is a convicted felon, was arrested for hunting without a license and possession of a firearm after a former conviction of a felony, according to police.

The other man was issued a citation for hunting without a license, police said.

Here is an example of desperation of those that didn't prepare as the things continually spiral down the toilet caused by Democrat insanity . I wouldn't be surprised if those hunting for something to eat in a public park were of the ilk that voted Democrat . It certainly sounds like city folks to me and we all know how the majority of these type voted .

I remember as a kid hunting squirrels with my trusty crossman BB gun and mom cooking them for dinner. Good thing I lived outside of city limits,

Dumb or not, and they do sound dumb, I appreciated the fact that they were at least doing something to put food on their table that didn't involve a gov't handout or a crime. Other than not bending a knee to the crown for taking the King's game without permission.

I hated spitting out the bird shot after Grandpa bagged a squirrel out of his walnut tree.

The Chief of police finally came and took his his shotgun, and gave him a BB gun. Ordinance against discharging a firearm inside city limits. Besides, the BB's were easier to spit out :)

A BB gun is not a firearm, legally. The pistols were not on them so proving ownership is a problem. If i read the law correctly a felon can own black powder guns, compressed air guns, BB guns, and anything manufactured prior to 1899.

Our towns ordinance states something to the effect of "Discharging a projectile within city limits is illegal". That covers firearms, pellet guns, BB guns, airsoft guns, slingshots and even throwing rocks. You'd think it would make tennis, baseball and volleyball illegal too, but I haven't heard of anybody being arrested for that yet.

Park probably had to many squirrels anyway! "Shots Fired", my backside, it was a bb gun! Should have arrestd the "Karen" who called it in!

Did you know and FYI that rat traps can be used to harvest squirrels?
It's not legal outside the season, however.

I can't see a liberal hunting anything.
