I stumbled over this local (Austria) prepper forum 2 months ago and i thought joining might be a good idea to network. Right from the start, after registration, i thought its strange that there were so many posts from banned and deleted people. There were only about 30 active members over that time. I had the impression of the forum being a kind of an online-ghost-town/forum.

After reading through the forums policies i found out what i got myself into. I was not to talk about firearms or related topics and neither about politics or migration, which are three very important topics for every prepper in my opinion.

The senior members agreed on keeping those topics banned for the sake of separating themselves from “doomsday-preppers” (funny coincidence but they really used that term), which are the “lunatic-tin-foil-hat kind of preppers” in their opinion and them being the serious “normal” preppers. That’s what they wanted to mirror in their forum to avoid a negative public image and bad press from the mainstream media.

I already knew this was not the place for me to hang out, but out of curiosity i contributed for some time. In the month i was there, i saw several threats to ban people for stating a political opinion or mentioning guns.

These people think they would survive a real crisis, bugging in with food, a few flashlights and a power generator. I was shocked how naïve and ignorant these people are, while thinking of themselves as reasonable preppers.

I mean how can you prepare for anything without security in mind and by banning politics and migration, neglecting two of the most important topics?

At the end i told them that the “Emergency Management” (federal institution here in Austria) is not suited to advise preppers and that its suggestions for prepping are a joke.
They wanted me to apologize because i might have damaged their “connection” to this institution.
I told them that they best ban me because the hell i am going to apologize for my opinion.

Well and that was my end in the Snowflake-Preppers-Safe-Space-Forum.

yep, been coming up again the same sort of thing myself for years, people who want to prep for the minor stuff 72 hours to maybe 7 days, but wont even consider the more long term events, and call those that do paranoid.

Yes, I am paranoid, so what.. If I am wrong, then I have hurt nobody and if I am right, then I have saved my family. I don't require others to prep and I don't call the sheeple (hehe) names. As long as those around me don't prep, the better my chances of surviving are. They will run out of water long before they will run out of food. Two weeks without water and this area will be a ghost town, literally.

These Snowflake -- Wannabe Preppers are just kidding them shelves. Do they think they will be able to scare off the Ferrel animals (2 legged and 4 legged) with loud voices and a firm tone? Look back in history and the wars were caused by two of the banned topics and fought with the third banned topic. Migration and politics have been the cause of every war down trough history and the firearm has been used to fight every war since it's invention.

Feel good prepping is just a nice way to keep marauders well stockpiled. These idiots will be the only folks with food and water and no means to defend these supplies, life expectancy --- zero.

I know a lot of countries have banned firearms, or restricted them so much that it’s rediculously difficult to get them. All I am certain of is for me, it just makes sense to have a way to protect yourself. I don’t feel the police have my best interests in mind. Sure there are good cops out there, but not nearly enough of them to prevent bad things from happening. Not to mention, the average response time is really slow now, given a large scale disaster it would be much worse. If you don’t have firearms and someone comes around to take what you have, and they do, your screwed. Period.

Welcome to this forum. It sounds like you'll be a good fit here.

Just curious, did anyone in the Austrian forum mention how they would do in a real-world scenario, let's say if they lived in the middle of Venezuela? That's not a topic of guns, migration or politics. It's a real country with serious real problems for the citizens.

It's also interesting that the forum did not want to offend the gov't when the whole purpose of the group is built around a... failed gov't!

BTW, you'll find that I'm an EOO. Equal Opportunity Offender. I write what I see & think, and anyone that gets offended does not change what I will write. If someone gets offended, they need to ask themselves what about THEM goes against truth, not the opposite (changing truth to save their feelings).

I'm not sure how long you've been here. Recently we had (another?) discussion about how Europe is lost. Muslim invasion. Socialism. Globalism. Climate baloney. Bad news all around.

I've always written what I thought and if it offends someone that's their problem, i'm not going to change now. I don't set out to annoy people that's not my intention but sometimes it happens.
recently, on another forum someone got offended by the word sheeple which I thought was hilarious.

Most of them say they dont prepare for the "worst case scenario" (worst case being a few weeks of blackout in their opinion).
I told them that a few weeks of blackout with riots and looting isnt by far the worst case scenario, but that again falls into "doomsday prepping".

In retrospective i think most of the snowflake-preppers are socialists and thats why they are looking for appeasement and guidance from the government. Its what socialists do. (Altough we have a conservative/right wing government since 2017, which pisses them off very well.)

I think of myself as a rather polite person. But as you say, for some people, the truth is their worst enemy. Their emotions are more valid than your facts and they will attack you personally for a truth they cant argue with.

I am here since a few days, so i guess i missed the discussion about Europe.
Personally i see Europe in bad shape too but there is also light at the end of the tunnel and it grows.

*Socialists lose power more and more, right wing parties get into governments
*The EU as it is now, run by globalist-muppets, is on the brink of collapse. Next years election of the EU-Parliament will shift powers from globalist-left to right or at least conservative.
*People awake to the horrible globalist agenda that seeks to destroy their heritage, culture and homelands. They join political movements and start to fight back.

A few states i see in real trouble. UK, France, Germany, Sweden. They already experience massive problems due to migration from 3rd-world-shitholes, having no-go Areas, muslim-family-clans and all that. Their governments fight rather their own people for "hate speech" then criminal migrants and islamists. Where i see change in the political landscape in other countries, i see the governments of these 4 states cracking down on their own people to stay in power. And if there is no change to this lunatic open-border/social-welfare combination, i see civil war as a possibility for these countries. Also, these countries signed that damned migration-pact, which will bite them even deeper in their arse.

I agree with 95 percent of your post. I do have hope for the U.K. The other states I think are doomed. Just read Germany is indoctrinating preschooler with far left Liberal B.S. and trying to punish right wing / conservative parents for abusing their children by not teaching them socially acceptable idea's. As for prepping sheeple, what CAN you say or do? Those folks will last just 72 hours longer than their equally stupid friends. They are like many of the very young (teenage) preppers that like the concepts and the gadgets but don't want to invest the effort to learn the skills.

A friend of ours grew up in Holland (50 years ago). She hasn't gone back for a decade. She says the country is completely lost to muslims, even 10 years ago.

No country with a muslim percentage lower then 10% is lost (Holland is at 7-8% now). It looks worse in some places as muslims tend to form their parallel societies in cities rather then in rural areas.
But we are at a critical point, some countries more, others less. Many problems need to be adressed and with the political climate changing all over Europe there is still time to turn arround before things get ugly and involve CQB in the streets.

Also Keep in mind that Europe is more then the western states. There is the whole of eastern Europe including Russia that stands firm against islamization.

I agree about the critical point. The problem is finding leaders with the fortitude to do what is needed. I don't see that happening in places like Germany & France. I think Eastern Europe with the USSR background are more than alert to the problem, but they don't have the strength to hold back a muslim-dominated Germany/France/etc. But I do wish them well.

However, I have to admit that the same thing has been known to happen here in the U.S., with members in some sites making people who are not a part of their particular culture (e.g., "liberals") feel unwelcome.

My early (1970's) mentor in the prepper field were Mel Tappan and the editors of Mother Earth News, two people certainly as different as could be politically. I think that anyone who has a concern about hard times and a desire to get through them is someone I would want to help and/or learn from, regardless of his religious or political views. Surviving hard times is not a zero-sum game.

However, I have to admit that the same thing has been known to happen here in the U.S., with members in some sites making people who are not a part of their particular culture (e.g., "liberals") feel unwelcome.

I agree that being p.c. won't help anyone when SHTF, but being practical will. Practicality will trump politics any day for me - there are plenty of people who I disagree with politically that are still intelligent, forward-thinking individuals. When SHTF, I'd rather be with them than with a prepper wanna-be with too many guns and no useful skills.

I'll address the latter part. I'm one who pushes away liberals. Let me note, specifically libs who come here just to cause trouble making illogical statements and not backing up those statements when challenged. They are not here to learn about prepping, they are here to disrupt what we are doing. I though Doreena was one of those, I have seen cracks in her liberal views that show she is slowly learning.

When SHTF, that will be the opportunity to change our nation to a sustainable society. That means socialism/communism/liberalism needs to disappear. I will take in zero liberals in SHTF. In fact I hope they change their ways to realize conservatism is the only viable, otherwise... I make no apologies. If someone wants to tie themselves to an anchor, there should be no surprises when they fall off the ship.

I don't get this conflation of PC with beating around the bush/sugar-coating. To me, PC is just speaking and acting in a straightforward manner without being an eejit about race, sex/gender, disability, religion, etc. Ultimately, it comes from the Greek root polis, meaning state and, hence, state affairs, and Latin correct, meaning 'made straight' - so it rather embodies the concept of straight dealing in civil situations In my experience, people who take PC as meaning mealy-mouthed faffery tend to be easily upset types who object to being asked to treat their fellows with a measure of decency.

Certainly, some people - on all sides of various political fences - misuse Political Correctness for muzzling purposes. I don't, and I don't respect those who do.

Of course 1984 wasn't an instruction manual - it was a warning of a terrible state that everyone should guard against. The authorities in the book treated people abominably, without a shred of decency.

My granddaughter understands what I mean and yet she is only three. But if I say the exact same thing to another kid of a different race than I am, I am being racist and not PC. To me, I am treating everyone the same there with no special treatment. Being 'PC' may have had good intentions when it was first introduced. Being mindful of another feelings and how it is perceived but like everything else it has been taken to the extreme. Who would have ever thought that the common statement I make would ever be considered racist. Or the fact that a church that put up a sign advertising their VBS in a mall would be considered offensive. The sign was of a man holding a book with no title on it. Had the VBS theme and location and times. That was it. Big stink and it had to come down. Statues have to come down of Southern Generals because some people believe that the the Civil war was about slavery and not state rights. A person is denied entrance to an art exhibit because she is wearing a kimono and not Japanese descent. . . the list goes on and on. . . .

You are no longer able to express yourself and voice your own opinion without offending someone out in the world. Has and will never happen. I was not talking about degrading or being mean to another just because they have different ideas than I do, like some do. I do not like or agree with that kind of behavior at all.
