it's always best when you start taking these drops when you feel it
coming, but it will shorten your flu stretch and make your recovery
more speedy, Ive been using these echinacea drops..
and of course tea with honey.

Chicken soup with added diced peppers and cabbage (you don't even taste the cabbage).
That'll fix you up good. At least it works for me.

I've heard of the drops and even things like Tamiflu and Airborne, etc., but good ol' chicken soup is a nice way to take your medicine.

I've heard of chicken soup, that it should be good, perhaps I make it tomorrow if I can,in the mean time I keep taking these drops and drink a lot of hot

and I love cabbage soup..next day it's already really good..mmmmm

The sodium is great on the throat, and the peppers are great for clearing your nasal passages.
The chicken provides protein to help heal, and the other veggies provide vitamins, while the noodles provide carbs for some energy (making you feel a bit better). Or at least those are my thoughts on it.

We are just getting over this years strain of flu . Its been like a bad cold even though in some cases its killed several people Nation wide most likely from the fever . My Grand Sons got up to 103.3 mine was 102 . Several years ago we got the swine flu when it was going around and it was bad , it was one of thoes flus where you wake up and don't know if you are alive or not . Several folks I know that got the flu this year have had flu shots before they got it . I have gotten the flu 3 times in my life . I guess getting it from time to time builds imuneity better than the shots .

I typically only get it for about 2 days when I do. Granted, I'm miserable those two days (and not a nice guy to be around), but I'll still be a bit under the weather for another couple days after (but will go to work, etc.)

I had it for about a week and two weeks later my ears are still congested and my voice is still rather hoarse. Fever hit 102.8, the wife was about to take me to the ER if it went much higher. Crappy part was I only got two days off from work, I think working through the end of it lengthened up my recovery time. 10 hour shifts as a kitchen manager will take it out of you on a good day, heh, but that's life as a wage slave for ya.

Tried eating food with a lot of olive oil and garlic as I hear that those things help. I'm not a tea fan so I resist the traditional hot tea with honey type remedies. Went through a whole bottle of both DayQuil and NyQuil too. CVS Pharmacy stocks these little effervescent shower tabs with menthol and those provide me with some pretty nice sinus pressure relief.

Yeah, working through it can certainly lengthen the time, but as you said, sometimes just gotta do it. Garlic is typically good for it too, as you mentioned. I should have included that in my soup recipe above. We typically mince some garlic in it too. We also add diced up onion as well to the soup. (either green onions or white onions, whichever is at hand) along with traditional veggies like carrots and celery.
