I drove through Kansas once and can 7nderstand why the focus on the stars.
I recall reading an article in Physics Today (before thy went flaming liberal) about a PHD 5hesis that proved Kansas was flatter than a pancake if the pancake was scaled up to the size of Kansas.

There are a number of astronauts that came from Kansas. We have a very impressive space museum about 20 minutes from us.

"Audemus jura nostra defendere" has been translated as: "We Dare Maintain Our Rights" or "We Dare Defend Our Rights." This Latin phrase is on Alabama state coat of arms completed in 1923. It was adopted in 1939 as Alabama state motto.
According to a Birmingham News-Age Herald article by Marie Bankhead Owen (the director of the state Archives) dated April 23, 1939, she came upon the idea while searching for "a phrase that would interpret the spirit of our peoples in a terse and energetic sentence." A part of a poem entitled "What Constitutes a State?" by the 18th-century author Sir William Jones found in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations includes the stanza "Men who their duties know. But know their rights, and knowing, dare maintain." The motto was translated into Latin by Professor W. B. Saffold, of the University of Alabama.

I had to look South Carolina up, had it on a test in four grade..................................
The State's two mottos surround the two ovals. On the left is "Animis Opibusque Parati", meaning Prepared in Mind and Resources. On the right, "Dum Spiro Spero", meaning While I Breathe I Hope.

Alaska’s motto is “north to the future.” Per the person who created the motto: It “is a reminder that beyond the horizon of urban clutter there is a Great Land beneath our flag that can provide a new tomorrow for this century’s ‘huddled masses yearning to be free.”
The irony in this one is that New Hampshire license plates are made in prisons.

The official motto is "With God All Things Are Possible", but with DeWine as our governor, it's "BEND OVER PEONS". Legislators pulled his teeth, things are getting better.
