To each their own. I've come across old mines in remote areas where the miners carved out a living space in solid rock, rather than build a cabin.

poor guy. if he was from alaska and familiar with winter weather pattern thats one thing but a guy from Tx going to alaska to go thru winter ...in a cave it kinda looks like a mental breakdown for some sort. prayers he gets the help he needs

Without knowing the guy I can't say whether he's stupid or nutty. He might just be doing something that's he's always wanted to do. That may not interest most of us, but aren't many of us living the way we always dreamed of?

Either way we need to stop interfering with natural selection. It was put here for a reason and we need to let it keep thinning the heard.

My great grandfather had a dug out home in Oklahoma and apparently that worked until he could build a house. Kept them cool in the hot summer.

But. Alaska might not be the best place to do that.
