now you can buy many beautiful and smart devices that require electricity or gas.
However, if you are a Survivor or live far from the City, then you use the old tools that our grandparents used.

Today I took an old meat grinder, sharpened a specific 4-sided knife in this device, then cut the meat with an ordinary knife, repaired a disc ..
then made minced meat for cutlets

I have a couple of those old meat grinders that were handed down in the family. They have been working just fine for generations, I've never even owned an electric grinder or felt the need to.

We don't have a meat grinder of any kind, but I think we have hand operated mechanisms for most of our tools and appliances. It has been a conscious decision to not use electricity where possible, or have a back up.

Yep, we use them here from time to time, we would add pork fat to some of our venison meat or make summer sausage

When it comes to cutting hair, I go strictly high tech!

I bought those for cutting Kevlar, but I found out they are GREAT for cutting hair. I've been cutting my own hair with scissors for decades. Usually with whatever scissors are at hand, but I've been using these for a while.

.. also bought an electric hair clipper and since then I don't go to the hairdresser
- it cost only 1,500 rubles.
- one haircut in a hairdressing salon costs at least 400 rubles

by the way, I have my hair cut bolb when live in nature.

I have several old clippers like that, mine shows the age, they still works good but I don't use them at least I have them never the less.

ingredients: Pork with Fat and onion.
A little softened wheat bread should be added to the minced meat, then "make cutlets", roll in breadcrumbs or flour.
then fry in a pan.
use a cast iron stove in a wood stove for frying.
Personally, I know how to fry in a pan, even on the coals of a fire

So for each meal you grind fresh and cook? No storage required? Kill a whole hog for them meatballs? How do you preserve the rest of the animal without electricity?

I never keep raw ground meat, not even frozen. I brown all the ground meat except for what little bit I use for burgers or sausage right away. Burgers need to be eaten immediately, sausage can keep a little while.

Then the browned meat can easily be canned for longer term storage, but since I have electricity at the moment I vacuum pack it and freeze it after browning. Then I use it later for making spaghetti sauce, chili, etc.

Yes. I'm not too keen on salted meat though. There are plenty of other ways to preserve it. All perishable frozen foods will be processed one way or another. If the power goes out for an extended time, I plan on making a HUGE pot of venison stew and canning it. I can cook it in my turkey fryer.

you dry it or smoke it As they did for centuries, we cold smoke in the winter or heat smoke it in the summer. Man done quite good without electricity for thousands of years.

I would have no idea, but I don’t plan to rely on fresh meat in TEO..

Lol, I do it all the time, I have an large outdoor smoke oven and a smoke house

This may give you an idea of ways to preserve. With our temps here I am only comfortable preserving by canning, dehydrating and freeze drying. We can smoke but I think it would only be good for about a week maybe? And that is a big maybe.

canning and jerky are just two ways to preserve meat. Canning is likely the best way without electricity. I’ve invested a lot to help ensure I can still produce electrinity though as I really don’t want to have to live without it. I also invested in a cast iron wood stove that can be cooked on and outdoor cooking options. I have a large propane generator with 500 gallons of propane, 2 smaller generators, and solar with 1000AH of battery storage. I’ve definatey given some thought to the likelihood of loosing the grid and felt it was worth the effort to be able to produce your own.

A lot of meat in glass jars in a gas oven and brick oven.

Another way for hunters and survivalists is smoking, salting.
By the way, historically, smoked sausage is one of the ways to store meat.

My ancestors lived in the Urals, in the village.
Until the 50s, they stored meat in the so-called "glacier". In winter, they took ice and collected it in an underground storage, then put the meat.
Cattle-cows, pigs, sheep were slaughtered in late autumn.
If the cattle were slaughtered in the summer, then the meat was simply divided between the villagers, since this is Collectivism. or sold in the agricultural market
