Also had the thought that you could always try to join some type of military group like the militia, national gaurd or military, but you'd probably end up in syria or iran at this rate... none the less if you want access to guns that is probably the easiest way. You may need to get fit, I know some highschools have ROTC type programs. There is the cadets up in Canada not sure what the equivolent would be in the US.

imo people should join the government military streams as a first resort if there is an option to deploy or not unless you want to deploy then it doesn't matter. if time is willing it really is the best option in terms of access to training as well as making connections and even help maintaining society by choice.

if there is no gov option imo militia is the best option if it exists locally, if no militia or gov, than self training, organizations, etc.. in a worse case there are lots of organized cr

im home schooled so i cant really do ROTC but im training myself and plan on going into the SEALS either end of 2014 or beginning of 2015

I did JROTC for a year, but the sergeant we had was a jerk, so i decided to either go private sector or go DOD

Mine was pretty cool.. I didn't do it this year because I doubled up on both math and science so I ran out of electives, but I'm going back next year. My Commander is retiring at the end of this year though, so I'll be meeting my new one when I go back. Chief's staying though. So that's cool, even though he's an ass sometimes. I kinda kick myself in the butt sometimes wishing I would have stayed in because next year I'll be an NS-2 instead of an NS-3 but. Oh well.

Yeah, I just dropped it, I mean, I figured Id get more out of the AP Computer Science classes that id replace it with. JROTC is nice, but I really dont think it taught me a whole lot of useful info...

I wouldnt deny that it looks good, its just that I felt like more AP's and other courses would take me much further than 4 years of JROTC. I have my Eagle Scout, so i wasnt as worried about getting the jrotc along with it.

I can't speak about your school, but mine is a Naval jrotc. And to be honest, I got a lot out of it. We go over survival, drill, rifles, weekly PT sessions, first aid, history, etc. I am really missing it this year and I can't wait to go back. I was both a squad leader in my platoon and a squad leader on the competitive drill team in my NS-1 year, so I have two leadership positions along with just being in JROTC that can go on my resume.

And my unit has competitive drill, color guard, exhibition drill, and rifle teams. In the year that I was on competitive drill we went to 13 competitions and got first place overall (in competitions ranging from 7-25 schools) in all but one competitions. Same goes for this year, but I'm not in JROTC this year for the reason stated in a previous comment. My point it, my unit is very disciplined and hard working along with all the other qualities we are taught.

i was in CAP and was a waste of my time, there Search& Rescue tactics don't work, the only good thing i got out of it is my instructor pointed me in the right direction to a flight school

Mine was Air force Jrtoc, and all they did was teach history that I had already learned on my own and some airfoce specific etiquette.

Army JROTC was fun, only went for the last 2 school years and i went to a week long boot camp which was cool. many schools in the houston area went and i had a blast.

Im a teenage prepper glad to see Im not the only one my family supports me mostly like helping me make fires and stuff although prepping is on a tight budget so cant get too much anyway kolydascope good luck with mini boot camp

I have a bugout location but, like Ghost Sniper said, it takes over an hour to get there on foot. I am getting my license soon though and since, hopefully, I will be getting a job within the next month, I can start saving for a car. I'm thinking as long as SHTF doesn't happen for around a year, I should be okay. But that's the thing, you never know when ***** gonna happen.

Do any of you have advice for making a bow and arrow?

Things can go wrong tomorrow or 20 years from now, Do not fret about prepping, its a never ending task. You do what you can, if nothing else, gather information, join outdoorsy clubs, take up gardening (believe me this is a must skill, you can't just throw seeds in the ground pour some water and grow vegetables)

You could try to let them buy a shot gun. Use it for bird hunting and have a case that is locked so that your brothers can not get to it.

Also a teen! First I got a bug out bag together (stuff at my house) now i get 2 or 3 cans from my pantry and store them!

Try to refrain from that type of advice you are giving. Trying to make a firearm would be dangerous, especially for a teenager! Also it maybe a FEDERAL crime to do so without the proper licensing by the ATF. The last thing we need is to lead one of our young members into something bad happening. I am sure Clyde would also not want to take on any of the liability from this if someone got injured or killed.

OK so I've contacted the ATF, perhaps they will clear this up now, maybe not who knows, not sure what will happen now.

This thread is for teens so I will leave it at that. I agree as I suggested it contact me, that is still a possibility. I don't think that will happen though. I've dealt with a lot of such potential trolls and netstalkers I know their routine.

PS I find it curious that you guys joined when I started viewing this website... although potentially coincidence the fact my computer had trojans and I was viewing this website at the time you guys joined may be leading, not definite but leading.

The ATF website clearly states "For your information, per provisions of the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, an unlicensed individual may make a “firearm” as defined in theGCA for his own personal use, but not for sale or distribution."

I stand by this citation, unless the ATF has been hacked, I really do want to see you back up your claims it is a felony to make your own gun. Anyone not only "trapper" kindly PM me if you have this information as well as post the citation of the information contradicting the ATF's statements on the legality of making your own firearms here.
