Someone I worked with said this was the time of year for the doldrums. I've never seen the doldrums. I've been so busy lately, and spring is around the corner. Seed starting, garden prep, yard clean up. So much going on.

I can't go anywhere until the night time temps are above freezing, the snow is gone, the grass greens up and the ground dries out. Plus I've got miles of fence that will need to be repaired before I can turn the cows out. So maybe some time in July.

Like others have mentioned, the entire year's calendar and personal needs for each period need to be considered.

I need kidney surgery very soon or I may lose it I actually scheduled it between winter firewood and plowing needs and Spring activities.

Ahhh! I did not interpret this as advice for future ex-government employees. Although if they don't take this advice to take a few days off now, they'll probably be granted an infinite number of days off anyway.
