my parents always had a larder of some sort post ww2, before the days of supermarkets(didn't see my first one until 1970) and freezers(first one I had was an old shop ice cream freezer-1981).I’d say just about everyone was a prepper pre industrial revolution, except maybe some of the rich. People had to conserve and organize and prepare for winter, etc. even just chopping wood is a form of prepping, maybe not as hardcore as a lone fur trapper, but prepping nonetheless.
Not all that long ago, for country folk in the south it was called "living.". I'm old enough to remember my grandmother washing clothes in a cast iron cauldron over a fire in the back yard, heating bath water in a galvanized washtub on the stove, making her own butter (her sister had dairy cows), etc.I’d say just about everyone was a prepper pre industrial revolution
Thank God our ancestors had the backbone to throw off the yoke of British oppression. Unfortunately over the last 100 years or so many people in this country want to throw away the freedoms and liberty's that our ancestors fought and died for.in my country in the 1800s ordinary people were peasants and very poor, so I don't think i'd want to live then, probably go back to an earlier time, maybe even prehistoric-well most people tell me i'm prehistoric anyway!
the less people that are around the better it will be for me.

Another new member? any guesses who it is this time???
But the ultimate prepper is an easy one: Noah.
I don't know the whole story of Noah other than the basics. Animals aside what other things did he prep? Did other people try to get on his ark and how did he deal with them? Is there any mention of how the animals were kept? Were they in cages or roaming around eating each other?
K,
We've had a string of liberal trouble-makers joining repeatedly lately, and I'm not convinced that you are not the same (yet).
I'm good with the original post & the entertainment value of it. Your previous post though was in the vicinity of ridiculous.
Now show you're putting some effort into this discussion. Take a few minutes and you tell me what you think it could have taken relating to prepping for Noah to house & feed & care for the animals for a year with 8 people. Go ahead... no greater understanding of the Bible required to think this through.
trouble is what you are talking about is pure fiction , it never happened.I'm far from a liberal. My post was not however in the vicinity of ridiculous just because I question something. Is is odd to question the logistics of such a project? My personal beliefs are irrelevant. I was just curious what people think about what he needed to do to prepare for such an endeavour.
Since you would like me to take a few minutes, here is some of the things I think it would take to prepare for the ark and voyage.
I would imagine it would require a whole army of people to build and manage.
Finance - Where did Noah get the funds? Did he save beforehand or borrow? If he borrowed those financiers would probably want a place on the ark.
Craftsmen - This is pre power tools. Did Noah and his family possess all the skills needed or did he subcontract?
Suppliers - Suppliers are known to not deliver on schedule and may prevent the project from getting completed on time.
Animals - With regards to the animals, I doubt they just turned up when the time was right. It would have been a mission and a half to get them on the ark let alone gather enough food to feed them.
This is in no way meant to offend anyone I was honestly just curious. In my original post I was curious about how Noah would have dealt with an angry mob turning up wanting a place on his ark, because when SHTF that is what I think would happen. I also wondered about the animal care. Yes I can read a load of stuff from internet sources but I thought it would be good to ask people on here to find out.
I can see where some would be skeptical of feeding the animals. The arc encounter had great examples of primitive feeders that would feed many kinds of animals where human intervention would only be needed weekly/monthly. Same for waterers. I don’t recall how many tons of oil/grain would have been needed
Noah took seven pairs of each kind of food animal.Better question, what did the carnivores eat? Whoops....
