I'm trying to educate myself on communication types. What do you guys with more knowledge recommend for family communication with about a 20 mile range? Tried the average handhelds and they don't cut it. Any info is appreciated.

C.B. radios are a good bet.

So are ham radios, but ham radio requires training and a lot of liscensing.

Also some bucks to get started.
