Excerpt: "The chief executives of America’s top 350 companies earned 312 times more than their workers on average last year, according to a new report published Thursday by the Economic Policy Institute.
The rise came after the bosses of America’s largest companies got an average pay rise of 17.6% in 2017, taking home an average of $18.9m in compensation while their employees’ wages stalled, rising just 0.3% over the year."

One more reason I tell everyone that if they want to make money, they need to own their own company. But nobody is forcing people to work for these companies with these executive salaries. It doesn't matter what the execs get paid, what matters is what YOUR salary is. If you're not satisfied with it, go somewhere else where they will pay you more or start your own company. If you can't make more elsewhere, then be glad you have this salary.

I'm not justifying paying 312 times more. But I'm not going to whine about it.

I'm not at the top but I'm not at the bottom either. As long as I continue getting my yearly review with an "exceeds expectation" I am perfectly happy.

There is a reason those big dogs get the pay they do and I am at a point in my life where I am content and don't need or want that kind of stress.

Most big company’s the bosses make way more but they also have a lot more risk in their position. When the company stops being productive they are usually the one the shareholders will look at possibly replacing.
I just put my head down and work hard and it has paid off with a paid millwright apprenticeship with piles of specialized tools paid for about 60k when everything is all done. When you worry about your own work ethic more then what others are making and put in the effort people notice.

60k!?

I'm a 16 year journeyman millwright, went through the apprenticeship in Iowa...

Are you counting your new truck? Did you buy your own optalign? WTH, man?

My Starret master levels, a nice Wright USA made hand tools set, a Jackson hood, all of it came in under 5k. I didn't go the job box route, just a few boxes and a metal 5 gallon bucket, and a handcart. Never had a problem with not enough tools.

Man. 60k.

I'm gobsmacked.
