This gets "SUPER UGLY" so read no further. No Bull-S**T truly read no further. "Both" of your remaining "feelings" might get wounded.

Sadly, if anyone's survival or their deeply cherished loved one's is "dependent" on someone following instructions (including their most trusted "first degree kindred") they have made a fatal error.

If I have learned nothing else from internet forums, it is that humans (Now Days) can't be trusted to keep their agreements...

It's not just with forums. I deal with.plumbers and no matter how detailed a work order is someone will decide not to follow it. That creates MAJOR problems. I don't know why Mrs smith.wants her hosebibb on the back wall and don't care, it's what she wants. I don't care it was easier to put on the front wall. Nothing we do is hard.

It's not just forums

I learned after that. That I really need to listen up when Sourdough talks, that was the real lesson. I think he mentioned the teton years ago on the WS forum and I finally took heed
its a dandy !

I'm confused ... what the hell is this thread about?
You need the "Secret Squirrel Decoder Ring". Mail two box tops from any General Mills cereal and one nickel to: Bla-bla-bla Corn Flake, Michigan, USA

Not to get off topic. (Is there a topic?) But as a plumber can you please tell me the secret to keeping water under pressure inside the pipes? Thanks. ;) :D

About 55 years ago I was leaving tech school & I loaned a friend there $1,700 on a handshake. I told him where I would be in 8 weeks. He came by & paid me back the money, no problem. Nowadays you would never see the money again if it was only 5 dollars & there was a signed contract. In 2 more generations we will be back living in tree's & caves. Society is breaking down & going down the tubes.

Agreed old tex, When I was growing up a man, or woman, kept their word because it was the right thing to do. It was one of the only ways they got jobs to do. If someone was bad at it they didn't get what they were after. Almost a "credit check" you might say. Your word was your bond. People now days can care less about keeping their word or even doing what they say they will in passing. In the past I've had people say they would hold an item for me as I was 20 miles away and on my way. Got there and they just sold it! No honor to their word or themselves. Society is indeed collapsing.

My take on it is that this thread is really about EXPECTATIONS. Sourdough had high expectations about somebody or something and was betrayed in his expectations and so he was seeking solace.

Definition of expectations:

- The word expectation comes from the Latin word expectationem, meaning "an awaiting." If you have great expectations, you think something good will come your way, but if you keep your expectations low, you won't risk being disappointed.

- the act or the state of expecting: to wait in expectation. The act or state of looking forward or anticipating. Synonyms: trust, hope, anticipation, expectancy.

- Expectations are the strong belief that something will happen or be the case. More than anything else, our expectations determine our reality. And our expectations also impact those around us. In a self-fulfilling prophecy, people may rise or fall depending on our expectations and beliefs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If there was only one thing I've learned in my life from early childhood onwards it's that it's good to have expectations, to be motivated by them and to work towards accomplishing them but to never allow my expectations to be too high, unrealistic or to be taken for granted. If I keep my expectations sensible, practical, realistic and low enough, especially my expectations about other people or events that I have no personal control over, then I won't be crushed with a sense of betrayal, disappointment and loss of faith in them or even loss of faith in myself when my expectations are not met.
Here is a very good article about our expectations and how our great expectations can be a happiness killer.
“But trust is the color of a dark seed growing.
Trust is the color of a heart's blood flowing.
Trust is the color of a soul's last breath.
Trust is the color of death.
Give me your trust said the queen on her throne,
for I must bear the burden alone.
Trust me to lead and to judge and to rule, and no man will think you a fool.
But trust is the sound of the grave-dog's bark.
Trust is the sound of betrayal in the dark.
Trust is the sound of a soul's last breath.
Trust is the sound of death.”
― Robert Jordan, Lord of Chaos
I have never trusted or expected too much from other people, so there are no issues with being too disappointed
it's still irritating when people try to rip you off, but I try not to get too upset about it anymore most of the time
my big disappointment and expectations not met is God
what a useless waste of my time that was , never did me any good what so ever
